The combined Masters degree in Construction Practice and Project Management enables students interested in being a construction project manager to gain specialised knowledge related to the delivery of complex buildings. Construction was the first and is still the dominant sector of the economy where project management is practised. It is also an international endeavour, where the cost and complexity of major buildings is ever increasing. Therefore, a combined understanding of the construction process together with the generic principles of successful management of scope, time, cost, risk, human resources, quality, procurement, stakeholders and environmental impact, and their balanced integration, is most valuable. The Master of Criminology (Professional) program provides you with skill development and training as well as scholarly appreciation of crime, justice and forensic issues. The program provides an understanding of a broad range of issues involving criminology theories, contemporary information on crime prevention, the theory and practice of punishment, criminal offenders, the police, courts and correctional institutions, including current crime and deviance issues. You will be provided with both knowledge and research skills and techniques required for the analysis of criminological issues and an understanding of how to critically evaluate published research. At the end of the program, you will undertake a professional portfolio involving your  research and practical expertise in your chosen vocational area.  Eligibility criteria applies to the professional placement option.  The program duration is 4 semesters and 20 weeks (92 weeks).

The Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management is a dual degree that combines an accredited professional degree for a career in architecture, complying with the competency requirements of the Board of Architects Queensland and the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, with an accredited postgraduate course in project management. This dual degree course is highly-relevant to contemporary demand for leaders in the field to have excellent design and management skills for effective project leadership. The Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management provides an authentic blending of creative practice professional study with contemporary project management. The Master of Architecture subjects are delivered seamlessly with the standard architecture program.  The Master of Architecture is a creative studio-based program focusing heavily upon design through hands-on and digital making with state-of-the-art tools. Project-based design studios focus upon real-world scenarios with specific attention to urbanism, the future of global cities, and the role of architecture and the architect in addressing urban, environmental, social, and technological change. Graduates will display mastery of architectural design abilities that are creative, critical, analytical, and spatial and based in advanced historical, theoretical, technical and disciplinary knowledge. All graduates will complete a design thesis as the cumulative result of the Masters course that demonstrates independent, self-directed critical thinking and sophisticated design capability.  For full-time students, the majority of the Master of Architecture coursework shall be completed before embarking upon the Master of Project Management portion of the degree.  Through the program offerings at the Abedian School of Architecture, issues of pressing international and national concern form the core content of the studio curriculum. Among the most prominent of these are the challenges posed by our contemporary condition globally, one characterised by rapid urbanisation, environmental change, technological emergence, and increasing socioeconomic inequity. The Master of Architecture will prepare students for globally-relevant employment through development of a sophisticated set of disciplinary competencies and acquired knowledge, providing the ability to synthesise diverse information in the resolution of complex creative-design challenges using a globally-applicable skillset that is deployed locally.     Established as a highly-flexible and student-focused degree program, students in the Master of Architecture/Master of Project Management will study for 6 semesters full time but eligible domestic students may also choose to study part-time. Studies include content from the disciplines of architecture, digital media, construction, city planning, urban design, project management and university electives. The limited student cohort size of the School is maintained to ensure all students have unique access to workshop facilities and program staff that is unparalleled almost anywhere globally.  The Master of Architecture is the terminal award allowing graduates to gain registration as an Architect in Australia and other jurisdictions that recognise the award. Upon completion and to earn registered status, graduates must complete a period of supervised employment experience (minimum 2 years) and pass a registration exam for recognition in Australia. The Master of Architecture provides knowledge, skill, and application (where required) of core competencies including design and documentation, practice management, project management, and understanding of contract law and project procurement.
