If you're an established or aspiring information technology (IT) professional the Master of Information Technology will expand your professional knowledge and skills in information technology (IT). During the course, you will study a common first term made up of four units covering project management, introductory programming, ICT services management and information systems analysis and design. Following completion of your first four units, you will begin studying in your chosen major: networks and information security; mobile application development; and software design and development. Minors cover new technologies such as blockchain, neural networks, machine learning, internet-of-things, sustainable practices with IT, and big data. The project management minor provides a unique opportunity to complete a minor in project management and study set elective units to graduate with both the Masters degree and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management (within the standard two years).

The Master of Information Systems provides you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in information technology, with a focus on business analysis skills at a professional level. Within this highly relevant framework you will be well prepared to contribute to future growth and change, whilst at the same time enhancing your individual advancement opportunities. This course develops your capacity to manage the functional responsibility for choosing, implementing and maintaining information systems within an organisation in any industry.

Choose from a range of minors including artificial intelligence, internet of things, mobile application development, networks and information security, project management, or software design and development and tailor your studies to suit your career goals and interests.

This course will provide you with the choice of completing an internship or project stream to contextualise your learning. Generally, the internship will be made of up a 10-week placement with a relevant organisation, with assessments completed throughout the term. Please note, internships cannot be taken at your current employer. Alternatively, the capstone stream provides the opportunity to apply your knowledge to an industry-relevant project. Projects in the capstone stream may be taken with your employer, provided other students can also participate in the same project.

The Bachelor of Medical Science aims to develop your skills to apply knowledge of Clinical Measurement, Nutrition or Pathology to clinical practice in a health professional role, or Biotechnology in support industries and medical research.

The course is designed to build a high level of technical and evaluative skill so you can assess and implement recommendations for best practice in patient testing, monitoring, education or to develop therapeutics in the cutting-edge medical biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. The course also aims to develop high level communication skills so that you can interact positively with patients/clients, other health professionals or industry leaders and are ready for the clinical or scientific work environment.

Clinical decision making and problem solving ability will be promoted through opportunities such as developing skills in designing, conducting and interpreting medical research.

Clinical Measurement

Clinical Measurement involves diagnosing disease and fine-tuning therapeutic management of already established disease by performing physiological tests such as electrocardiography (ECG) and 24-hour halter monitoring. Upon completion of the Clinical Measurement specialisation, you will be ready to pursue a role as a Medical Scientist in clinical measurement laboratories. Medical Scientists form a vital link in the chain of medical services and assess the physiological functioning of the cardiovascular, nervous and respiratory systems.

Speech pathology is an exciting career that will enable you the opportunity to work with people across the lifespan. Completing the Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at CQUniversity will equip you with valuable skills to enable you to work with people of all ages who have communication or swallowing difficulties. Your education and training will include a broad range of disciplines such as psychology, medical sciences and linguistics and phonetics, designed to ensure you graduate work-ready.

Completing placements in a variety of practice settings during your studies will enable you to gain valuable practical experience before you enter the workforce. This includes being part of a multidisciplinary team at the purpose-built Allied Health Clinic at CQUniversity Rockhampton where you will learn alongside students from other disciplines including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and oral health.

On completion of this course, you will be qualified as an entry-level speech pathologist, ready to work with children and/or adults with a diverse range of communication and swallowing difficulties, in a variety of contexts. As part of your final year of study, you will be required to complete a research project on a topic relevant to speech pathology.

HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing reflects the role of an enrolled nurse working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse.

Enrolled nurses provide nursing care for people across the health care continuum and at all stages of life.

To be eligible to apply for registration as an enrolled nurse and to practice in Australia, individuals must complete a Diploma of Nursing program accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approved as ‘an approved program of study’ by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) in accordance with the Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards.

Study the Bachelor of Nursing and gain the knowledge and skills needed to become a Registered Nurse (Division 1). This course prepares you to be reflective about your practice as a nurse and develop clinical reasoning skills in order to confidently and safely engage in contemporary nursing practice in a variety of environments and contexts and adapt to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds.

Through this course, you will acquire skills to provide person-centred care and collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Clinical learning is a key element of the Bachelor of Nursing and you will be required to undertake 800 hours of professional experience placement in a variety of settings with different health organisations. You must meet specific mandatory health, safety and security requirements to be eligible to attend each professional experience placement. Professional experience placements may be limited in your community. This means that you may be placed in other locations and you may be required to relocate to complete your placements.

The aim of this course is to give you a comprehensive overview of the scientific discipline of psychology and its applications. The course is delivered in accordance with the foundational (level one) competencies for three-year undergraduate psychology programs as specified by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). You will acquire an understanding of the underlying principles, theories and concepts within the discipline. In addition, you will develop knowledge of the range of core research areas that make up the discipline, and an understanding of the methodologies and statistical techniques used by researchers for information gathering and analysis. There will be opportunities for you to explore applied and professional uses of psychology. In addition, you will be introduced to psychological theory, research, and applied and professional uses of psychology in an ethical and culturally responsive context.

Upon completion of this course, you will have a highly marketable quali?cation. This course is universally acknowledged as an indication of competence and achievement in understanding human thought and behaviour that can be applied in a variety of people-oriented vocations. Graduating with this qualification, however, will not allow you to call yourself a 'psychologist'. This requires further study involving an Honours course (4th year of study) and then an accredited Psychology Board of Australia pathway.

The first year of the Bachelor of Agriculture will provide the foundation framework that you will use to develop increasingly complex learnings developed in the context of industry-relevant problems. You will select to complete either a major in agribusiness or two out of three minors in livestock, cropping or business, during the course.
