Deakin’s Bachelor of Forensic Science exposes you to the full scope of modern forensic science, from simulated crime scenes to courtroom presentations. With a strong focus on practical training, you’ll graduate with the skills needed to confidently examine, interpret and present forensic evidence. Forensic Biology
The forensic biology major aims to provide you with the specific biological skills that are very important in the forensic science workplace. These biological-based skills complement the generic forensic science attributes developed in the core units of the course.

To take advantage of the opportunities that information technology offers, businesses need skilled staff who can lead and manage IT projects, services, and departments. Deakin’s Master of Information Technology Management will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead and manage information technology projects and people within an enterprise.

This course develops your understanding of the many aspects of IT including networking, cyber security, operations, and enterprise systems.
As an enterprise manager, you will work alongside, manage and lead artificial intelligence specialists, software engineers, data scientists, application developers, and business analysts.

Gender and Sexuality Studies

Through an integrated study of local experiences and transnational flows of knowledge and influences, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Deakin provides students with an understanding of key forces which shape our understandings and lived experiences of gender and sexuality, both as cultural phenomena and as embodied practices. In particular, the programme emphasizes the intersectional dimensions of gender and sexuality, addressing questions of class, citizenship, ethnicity, race, religion, ability, and geographical location. Throughout their studies, units in this Major help students to develop skills to analytically reflect on, and contribute to, a range of important debates. These include discussions about how sex, gender and sexuality inform understandings of the self, and how we recognize and respond to difference.

This major sequence provides an introduction to the nature of genes, genomes and the molecular and biochemical basis of cells, including their physiological properties, development, function and interaction with their environment. You will also learn about DNA sequencing and analysis and how an understanding of genomics relates to human health and wellbeing, the environment, biodiversity management and food production systems.  Students will also learn about the molecular basis of disease.

Medical Biotechnology
Medical Biotechnology uses living cells and cell materials to produce pharmaceutical and diagnostic products that help treat and prevent human diseases. This major provides you with a sound understanding of the core sciences underpinning biotechnology for medical advancement. You will be taken on a journey from the development of the first medical treatments through to regenerative medicine and cutting edge diagnostic and therapeutic deliver systems such as nanotechnology and the associated social and ethical issues surrounding their use. You will also learn the business of medical biotechnology including risk management, funding and regulatory frameworks relative to the Medical Biotechnology industry.
