People Management
An understanding of how to manage human resources is critical for all managers. This major provides skills and understanding of the critical dimensions required to successfully manage people.  Students develop an understanding of strategic human resource management, human resource development, organisational behaviour and change management. In addition, the major also provides skills in workplace counselling and negotiation as well as an understanding of employment relations. 

More than 7% of total burden of disease in Australia is due to poor diet*. Study Deakin's Bachelor of Nutrition Science and help tackle the challenges facing our society including disease prevention, lifespan nutrition, obesity, the spread of misinformation, and the social and physiological effects of food on our wellbeing. Modelled on commercial laboratories, our food preparation, food analysis and two sensory laboratories give students hands-on real-world laboratory experience preparing you for the workplace.

Gain at least 75 hours of workplace training through industry placement. These experiences ensure you have the practical skills to improve health through food and nutrition – skills that are increasingly in demand as society grapples with nutrition-related diseases and their impact on wellbeing. This course provides a pathway to the Master of Dietetics, which allocates 60% of places to Deakin graduates.

Exercise Science
This major provides students with a sound understanding of the core sciences underpinning both competitive sport and recreational physical activity. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation major will provide skills, strategic tools, perspectives, and work integrated learning experience to prepare you for careers such as starting your own business, family-business entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs, or to help existing organizations to launch and manage new products and enter into new markets.

Public Relations
Public relations practitioners are 21st century communication specialists who manage and coordinate relationships between organisations, agencies and the public. With a focus on ethical and sustainable communication practices, the course builds key knowledge and skills in core public relations responsibilities such as: event management and campaigns; social media tactics and media relations; strategic planning, management and communication; and the allied field of marketing communication. Final-year students have the opportunity to develop their skills further by undertaking an industry internship, working with real clients to develop a public relations campaign. Pharmaceutical Science
Pharmaceutical Science aims at developing new medicines for the treatment of disease. This major covers topics including the chemistry, biology and technology of medicines and is ideally suited for students who have a strong interest in chemistry, drug action and discovery. You will learn how the chemistry of life determines the biology of cells, tissues and organisms, and explore the drug discovery process from the identification of suitable drug targets to the use of chemistry to isolate, design and apply molecules in the treatment of disease.
