We have a multidisciplinary research base that offers opportunities to conduct biomedical research in a range of areas.

Under expert supervision, you will develop your skills and join researchers already active in

• Aquatic and marine biology
• Ecotoxicology (biomarkers for environmental pollutants)
• Environmental and molecular approaches to diagnose and develop solutions for disease, agricultural and environmental problems
• Genomics and sequencing techniques applied to various organisms
• Microbiology (food, medical and environmental biotechnology, vaccine development, fundamentals of pathogen/host interactions)
• Plant biology (plant biotechnology and genomics, molecular plant breeding, ecotoxicogenomics, fire and environmental ecology)
• Genomics and sequencing techniques applied to various organisms.

It also includes other therapies such as acupuncture, cupping (applying a heated cup to the skin to create suction) and tui na (remedial massage).

The emphasis is on the integration of Chinese medicine and western medical sciences, working together with the health community to provide the community with skilled health practitioners in Chinse medicine. Advanced clinical training is provided in Australia and China (where practicable) to broaden your clinical experience.

Graduates will be able to practise Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture at an internationally accepted level, with the capacity to launch careers in independent practice, or working within healthcare organisations as a Chinese medicine practitioner registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences conducts research in the area of ageing and chronic disease. Experienced researchers will supervise your work in the areas of:

• Cognitive and sensory disorders
• Diabetes, fatty liver disease and obesity: nutritional factors and drug discovery
• Early-life determinants of chronic metabolic disorders
• Musculoskeletal function and pain
• Respiratory and sleep disorders.

The research methodologies available to students include:

With RMIT's Bachelor of Engineering (Aerospace Engineering) (Honours), you'll design aircraft and spacecraft, develop propulsion systems, research new materials, test new engines, develop rockets and plan maintenance subjects.

In this internationally recognised degree you'll gain specialist skills in analysing, designing, and operating sophisticated aeronautics and astronautics hardware and software.

You'll study a broad range of areas such as aerodynamics, aerospace materials and structures, aerospace systems, design, dynamics and control, thermodynamics, and propulsion.

Minor options in Aircraft and Spacecraft Technologies will allow you to tailor the degree to suit your areas of interest and enhance your career opportunities.

Sustainability issues are built into multiple areas of the aerospace engineering degree. This increases your employability as there is increasing demand for long-term engineering solutions in this industry. You'll also learn to appreciate the wider social implications of the engineering profession.

You'll have the opportunity to apply your learning in the real world through capstone projects, industry placements, and participation in the Engineers Without Borders Challenge.

Begin your career in mechanical engineering and industrial design.

You'll gain both the technical and creative skills to design and develop advanced manufactured products.

Industrial design links industry and economy with people, culture, society and environment, while mechanical engineering involves the conversion and control of energy and motion in machinery and systems.

This combined degree allows the integration of these highly complementary disciplines.

This degree is built on core studies in mechanical engineering, with a specialisation in automotive engineering to develop economical and sustainable automotive designs or solve modern transport problems such as electrification and automation.

You'll study vehicle power systems, vehicle noise and vibration, vehicle handling and control, sustainable vehicle design, automotive manufacturing, vehicle aerodynamics, and autonomous vehicles.

The degree incorporates complete car design with a focus on new technologies that benefit society such as driverless cars, full-electric, hybrid power trains and fuel cells. It takes a global view and is increasingly environmental in outlook.

The emphasis will be on hands-on learning, with your work largely laboratory-based, where you'll conduct experiments and design your own projects.

With the opportunity to undertake industry placements either locally or internationally, you'll be work-ready when you graduate. There are also opportunities to tackle research projects in partnership with industry, like the Engineers Without Borders Challenge.

The Master of Biotechnology focuses on the study of living systems to address challenges in the environment, health or food science.

Students will explore gene and protein technologies, bioinformatics, and various microbiology and food science disciplines, both in the classroom and via a strong component of hands-on laboratory practicals.

This program includes an option to complete one semester of either work experience in the form of an industry placement, or a research project where you’ll complete minor thesis.

All students have the opportunity to analyse real-world data when they undertake a research project.

With the Master of Engineering (Sustainable Energy), taught in the heart of Melbourne, you'll learn why managing the transition towards a more sustainable energy sector is a priority for governments, the private sector and the general community.

Through your studies in this degree, you will learn to:

• Plan and effectively manage an independent project on sustainable energy topics at a professional engineering level
• Locate and critically review scientific and engineering literature and apply engineering practices and research methods to conduct sustainable energy projects and evaluate their results
• Communicate findings effectively to a professional audience

A final-year research project forms an essential part of this degree. Through this self-selected project (from a range of available topics), you will draw on not only the advanced engineering skills you have built, but also coursework around ethical, economic and social responsibility.
