This selective-entry, research-oriented honours degree is designed for capable and highly-motivated students who want hands-on involvement in research projects.

It prepares you for the compulsory one-year internship that you will need to complete in order to gain Australia-wide registration as a pharmacist.

Once you've successfully completed the degree and the internship, you will be registered to practise in any area of pharmacy in Australia, including community or hospital pharmacy.

Pursue a career in the fascinating field of diagnostity pathology or medical research with the Master of Laboratory Medicine.

As a student in this degree, you will build the necessary knowledge to perform and oversee a range of diagnostic procedures in a clinical pathology laboratory. You'll also hone your skills in problem solving and critical thinking.

During this degree, you will choose two areas of specialisation. These advanced clinical pathology discipline streams include:

• Anatomical pathology
• Clinical biochemistry
• Haematology
• Medical microbiology
• Transfusion and transplantation science.

Upon graduation, you'll have built high-level skills in analysis and knowledge integration relevant to your area of specialisation.

The Master of Laboratory Medicine is designed for graduates of general science or biomedical science degrees who are interested in a career in diagnostic pathology or medical research but who lack experience in the diagnostic laboratory disciplines.

Osteopaths are trained in diagnosis, management, and treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders. They combine conventional medical testing procedures and skills of palpation and motion testing to inform their clinical rationale for treating a patient's condition.

You will be trained in musculoskeletal diagnosis, clinical procedures in performing conventional medical tests, physical examination techniques, and motion testing in order to assist in diagnosis of a patient’s condition.

Osteopaths make treatment decisions that depend on the patient as well as their condition. They might give advice on posture, exercise, lifting procedures, nutrition and other areas.

You will begin work-integrated learning in first year, with clinical observations in the RMIT Health Clinic.

In the final two years, you will conduct safe, skilled evaluation, diagnosis, and management of a wide range of musculoskeletal complaints under the supervision of qualified and nationally registered osteopaths, over a period of 38 weeks per year.

There is also an opportunity to complete a work placement in an Australian osteopathic clinic.

The Master of Clinical Psychology provides you with the advanced knowledge and clinical skills that will enable you to function as professional clinical psychologist in a wide range of health, community and allied settings.

This training encompasses a wide range of theoretical and applied topics, such as knowledge of psychological principles, application of psychological theories and models, design and implementation of psychological interventions, ethical, legal and professional aspects of psychological practice, psychological assessment and measurement, applied research and evaluation, and communication and interpersonal relationships.

Advanced skills in assessment, diagnosis and treatment are imparted through intensive, small-group face-to-face didactic lectures/seminars, tutorials, case presentations, role plays and workshops. Students receive ample opportunities to develop advanced therapeutic skills within a cognitive-behavioural framework and other contemporary evidence-based theoretical paradigms, utilising the scientist-practitioner model.

The Master of Engineering (Environmental Engineering) will develop advanced knowledge and skills in environmental engineering to enhance your career prospects in relevant industries.

You will develop specialist technical capabilities in:

• Water treatment engineering and water resource systems optimisation
• Advanced technologies for wastewater reclamation
• Urban hydrology
• Soil remediation
• Humanitarian engineering
• Sustainable waste management in the context of circular economy.

You'll develop extensive knowledge in environmental engineering and related technologies combined with advanced oral and written communication, teamwork, process design, project management and research skills. You will enhance your professional skills in management, leadership and business enterprise.

You'll also gain skills that will allow you to step up as a project leader, consultant or manager with the knowledge to lead the introduction of new technologies and operating practices in environmental engineering.

Develop your research skills and contribute to new developments in nursing and health care delivery.

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences conducts research in the area of ageing and chronic disease, including:

• Evaluation of interventions for preventing, diagnosing and treating chronic health issues
• Health equity for vulnerable populations
• Mental health, particularly health risk and health-seeking behaviours
• Public health and health services
• You will undertake clinical or experimental research in one of these fields with an individual supervisor overseeing your development and progress.

Research is undertaken in a strongly multi-disciplinary environment that brings clinical and basic researchers together to undertake novel research at the boundaries between disciplines.
