The Advanced Diploma of Screen and Media (Content Creation and Design) is delivered as part of a sequence, beginning with the Diploma of Screen and Media (Animation, Gaming and Visual Effects).

Upon satisfactory completion of the diploma you will be eligible to progress to the advanced diploma.

This advanced diploma gives you the broad base necessary to move ahead in the art, design, screen and media industries. The Graduate Diploma in Journalism is designed to enhance your undergraduate qualification with focused study in journalism. This one-year diploma sets you up for a career as a journalist by allowing you to explore all forms of contemporary journalism and put modern practice into its legal, ethical and social context. 

As part of the curriculum, you will present and produce live radio news for community radio station RRR and our live-to-air television news program, Newsline, as well as create text and data reports for our publication The City Journal.

You will work individually with our work placement coordinator to find at least one internship as part of your study.

Upon completing this diploma, you will have developed the skills and knowledge necessary for an entry-level position in journalism and in doing so follow in the footsteps of many of Australia’s award-winning journalists.

n the Master of Animation, Games and Interactivity, our students work alongside ACMI X, exhibit their work at the Melbourne International Animation Festival, and have opportunities to collaborate with academic staff, industry practitioners, and RMIT research centres.

You will develop your directorial vision as you learn concepts and techniques of narrative, visual, and interactive media in a studio setting.

This degree builds on more than 20 years of RMIT’s success in postgraduate teaching and research, focusing on the advanced theoretical and practical aspects of professional production in animation, games, and interactive media.

This degree prepares you to be a locally- and internationally-aware communication designer capable of working across a range of domains and industries, including graphic design, advertising, branding and illustration consultancies, as well as design and communication units within corporate, government and non-government organisations.

Throughout the degree, you will develop skills in negotiating a consensus among participants with a range of interests in the design outcome. You will also learn how a visual strategy can contribute to all phases of the problem-solving process.
