A combination of industry-led research and individual projects in the second year of the degree will ensure a high level of flexibility for students.

Lecturers and academics all have strong industry relationships and experience, and the learning environment simulates professional practice within the writing, editing and publishing industries. In consultation with your discipline honours coordinator and your supervisor, you'll be allocated a project to develop your skills to an advanced level.

This diploma is suitable for those who already have bilingual skills, but have not yet reached the required level of specialised language proficiency for the Advanced Diploma of Interpreting.

Interpreters provide a critical service, helping people to overcome language barriers when accessing community services in areas such as health, education, law, business and travel.

You’ll gain basic transfer skills for interpreting in general conversational settings, learn about professional ethics, and improve language proficiency. You'll develop the skills to conduct transactions, interactions, and negotiations at a functional level.

Students studying spoken language will explore legal and medical terminology, while Auslan interpreting students will learn about health and education terminology.

Develop your advanced research skills and contribute to new developments in applied chemistry.

Under expert supervision, you will join researchers already active in:

• Analytical chemistry (metabolomics, natural products extraction and identification), separation science (focus on gas and liquid chromatography), flow injection analysis and mass spectrometry)
• Environmental analysis (air, soil and water quality, environmental contamination, biosolids, environmental toxicology)
• Occupational health and safety (open systems research, management and governance, risk management)
• Physical and materials chemistry (organic and inorganic synthesis, colloidal chemistry, functional surfaces, micro- and nano-technologies, nano-biotechnology, electrochemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, photocatalysis).

The Bachelor of Arts (Photography) integrates theoretical, conceptual and industry based models of photographic practice as they apply to the media and communication industry.

You will be challenged to produce work that responds to the critical discourses in both local and global contexts and you will explore emerging technologies, while also analysing and synthesising their relevance to your own image making.
As a professional practitioner with specialist knowledge in photography, you will have the awareness and skills to interpret and shape your field once you graduate. Some of the areas that our graduates excel in includes advertising, architectural photography, cinema production, curating, documentary photography, editorial photography, education, fine art, photo editing and retouching, photojournalism, post-production and publishing.

As a visual merchandiser or display designer in retail, events, exhibition or styling, you will maintain an organisation's image, service and merchandise to its customers and use your design talents to create stimulating and engaging spatial displays that promote products and services.

In your role you will:

• Create displays, stands and panels for exhibitions, conferences and other events
• Create window and in-store displays for retail shops and department stores
• Source elements such as lighting, props and accessories
• Work to a project brief and present concept designs to clients.

The major emphasis of this qualification is the design and production of commercial displays and the development of a folio of work that prepares you for a highly successful career as a creative individual.

You will design, develop and create displays using advanced construction and presentation techniques that use colour, lighting, space, photography, digital technologies, sensory inputs and interactive installations.

You'll learn in commercial retail, exhibition and event environments in world-class facilities. For example, in purpose-built studios, major street frontage windows and new media and digital display technologies.

This diploma has a hands-on, design-based curriculum that is monitored and delivered by experienced and practising professionals.
