The UNSW Master of Public Relations & Advertising/Master of Design combines two postgraduate degrees over two or three years full-time. You’ll gain a unique combination of strategic communication skills and design practice, as well as a deep conceptual knowledge of media theory and design research.

The Master of Public Relations and Advertising/Design dual award is ideal for industry professionals from advertising or design seeking to advance their career, as well as career-changers wanting to enter vibrant and rapidly evolving industries. This double degree is designed for those who wish to gain both a teaching and economics qualification.

After completing this degree, you will have a professional teaching qualification as well as an economics degree from the UNSW Business School. Students will gain analytical skills with broad application in business, finance and policy.

Along with the theoretical aspects of education, we place great importance on practical experience. In your final two years, you will develop skills in classroom competence and spend up to 80 days in supervised teaching in at least two secondary-school contexts.

This degree is accredited by NSW Education Standards Authority as an initial teaching qualification for both government and non-government secondary schools throughout Australia and is widely accepted as a teaching qualification internationally.

UNSW’s Bachelor of Commerce/Arts is a double degree that will equip you with business experience and expertise, combined with the creativity, analytical and critical thinking skills that come with an arts degree. The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) has been designed with consultation from industry to set you up for lifelong employability. The Master of Financial Analysis is a specialist qualification that builds on your prior degree and substantial studies in accounting and/or finance. It will extend your understanding and abilities in financial analysis, giving you a solid grounding in high-level skills for the development of a wide range of careers, such as investment analysis, funds management, chief financial officer role or almost any career involving business analysis. It draws on cutting-edge teaching and research from UNSW Business School which is ranked 1st in Australia and top 20 worldwide for Accounting & Finance*.

You will develop your strategy skills, risk analysis and management, valuation, and project development/management. A large range of courses gives you the flexibility to tailor your study to meet your individual professional development needs.

This double degree combines the professional Bachelor of Laws with the Bachelor of Media to give you a unique understanding of how these two industries can influence, persuade and create important lasting change. The combination develops communications leaders who inspire innovation and adhere to the highest ethical standards.

Through your studies in media, you’ll be equipped with the expertise to make a difference in the exciting, challenging, and constantly evolving field of media. This double degree combination is relevant if you’re interested in becoming a media lawyer, or working in public sector communication, and public relations.

The Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Media is a four-year double degree that shows you how to enlighten others with creative thinking and persuasive communications. Learn strategies to interest, inform, and inspire others while challenging conventions and designing new solutions to old problems.

Computational Design (Major)

When you study Computational Design at UNSW, you’ll learn to approach challenges differently through design-thinking. You’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, including 3D modelling, digital geometry and parametric design, responsive environments, AR and VR, and robotic and digital fabrication using 3D printers and laser cutters.

Through design thinking and computational design theory, you’ll hone critical-thinking and communication skills to create inclusive designs for diverse contexts. As part of our supportive Arts, Design & Architecture community, you’ll be encouraged to collaborate across disciplines, gain professional experience, and take advantage of programs that support entrepreneurship and innovation. You’ll have the opportunity to work on real-life projects set by UNSW’s partners in the built-environment, architecture and design industries such as Cox, Arup, Hassell, BVN, Bates Smart, PTW Architects, Grimshaw, Mott McDonald, and Aurecon.

Computer Science is the study of the design, construction and use of computer systems. When you complete a Bachelor of Computer Science at UNSW, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required for computer applications to be developed.

Working with both hardware and software, this undergraduate degree teaches the basic principles behind computing tools, operating systems, compilers and translators, and computer hardware.

The Bachelor of Computer Science also focuses on the representation of data and data structures in computer systems and the design of algorithms for automatic manipulation of this information by programming languages and machine systems.

The Master of Actuarial Studies equips you with the data analytics and quantitative risk management training for an actuarial career, and careers in finance.

Through this degree, you’ll learn to apply advanced analytical techniques, deliver highly valued data analytics, and actionable insights. You’ll also develop a specialist quantitative skill set in actuarial models, financial mathematics, probability, machine learning / artificial intelligence analytics, and commerce. The program is accredited by the Actuaries Institute and includes courses and electives to develop your future career as a business professional.

The program has also earned the University-Earned Credit (UEC) program status for Financial Mathematics (FM) exam and Statistics for Risk Modelling (SRM) exam. This UEC program facilitates the pathway for students who pursue the Society of Actuaries (SOA) profession by providing opportunities to earn credit for SOA exams.

Graduates of actuarial studies are in high demand. Upon graduation you’ll be ready for a quantitative role in a range of industries including financial services, insurance, and superannuation, and be equipped help businesses, governments, not-for-profit organisations, and individuals make critical decisions for the future.

If you have already completed an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Studies, the Master of Actuarial Studies will allow you to complete courses equivalent to the Foundation Program of the Actuaries Institute. You can also complete the "Actuarial Control Cycle" and "Data Analytics Principles" courses of the Actuary Program.
