The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) has been designed with consultation from industry to set you up for lifelong employability. By combining your BCom with a Bachelor of Arts, you can choose from a diverse range of majors and subjects in the arts, humanities and social sciences. You'll develop an in-depth knowledge and breadth of understanding, gaining the tools to think critically, communicate effectively and conduct independent research.

Business Economics(Major)

Studying economics will equip you with the analytical tools and critical thinking skills to understand and make an impact on some of our greatest global challenges. UNSW offers diverse economics specialisations and courses across a number of different degrees, allowing you to tailor your expertise to the areas that interest you. These include:  

• Economic Policy and Society

    Understand economic theory and analysis. Learn how it is applied in the real-world through business, government and policy.  

• Macroeconomics and Financial Markets

    Macroeconomics is the study of how governments manage economies to improve lives and create growth. Financial economics explores financial markets and risk management. Learn how these influential forces interact.

• Data Analytics and Econometrics

    Learn economic methods for organising, modelling, and analysing large and complex data.  

• Business Economics

    Use economic theory and quantitative methods to understand and analyse the financial, organisational and market-related issues faced by businesses.

• Behavioural Economics

    Apply insights about human decision-making and individual choices to business and policy scenarios.

• Economics and Finance  

    Study how individuals, firms, financial institutions and government interact in financial markets. Analyse economic decision making in the context of real-world events through this Master of Commerce specialisation.

• Applied Economics

    Prepare to become a professional economist. Gain advanced knowledge and practical skills in economics, as well as research and communications skills through the Master of Applied Economics. 

Food scientists study the properties of food and ingredients to ensure their safe use and consumption. The Food Science (Honours) degree is designed to provide you with a solid background in mathematics, natural and applied sciences to equip you for a career in a variety of professions.

You'll have the opportunity to apply yourself to food product design and enquiry projects, professional food practice, food systems management, research towards your thesis project.

The four-year Food Science degree is offered in two disciplines: Food Science and Technology and Food Science and Nutrition

The Master of Professional Accounting (Extension) follows the structure of the Master of Professional Accounting but adds four extra courses in your choice of electives to further your knowledge. This provides you with the opportunity to complete a more comprehensive program beyond the core professional knowledge areas required for accreditation.

You'll gain an excellent foundation in business with a strong accounting focus. In this postgraduate degree you'll learn accounting principles, their applications and other relevant knowledge in economics, finance, information systems and law.

The Master of Public Health (Extension)/Master of Infectious Diseases Intelligence enables you to specialise in both public health and infectious disease epidemiology, prevention and control and develop research skills in public health.

The Master of Public Health is widely recognised as essential for a career in population health, including health promotion, primary health care, policy formulation, research, and management of health programs. This degree also includes a research project which will cultivate your critical thinking and communication skills as you explore contemporary public health issues. When combined with the Master of Infectious Diseases Intelligence, you will gain a sophisticated understanding and application across a complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge - including infectious diseases intelligence, policy design, implementation and evaluation.

The program fosters judgment-ready practitioners who can contribute to improving population health and work across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health, government and non-government and voluntary organisations, military and first responder organisations, primary care and community healthcare services in both public and private sectors.

The UNSW Master of Interpreting is a 1.7 year full-time postgraduate degree that gives you practical experience in professional settings, alongside skills and theoretical foundations based on current research. Learn from leading interpreting and linguistics practitioners and researchers to prepare a successful career and open up opportunities in a variety of industries, both in Australia and overseas. UNSW’s Master of Environmental Management is a two-year full-time postgraduate degree that will prepare you for a career that tackles our biggest ecological challenges through change-leadership and sustainability.

As part of the Bachelor of Science, you’ll access state-of-the-art scientific technology and build extensive knowledge in a scientific field. With 26 majors to choose from, you can specialise in anything from neuroscience to biotechnology or psychology.

The UNSW Master of International Relations recognises the complexity and the globalised nature of today’s world, and is specifically designed to advance your understanding of global politics and foreign policy.  Through this degree, you’ll critically examine theories and issues in contemporary world politics. You’ll explore international security, great-power rivalry, regional conflicts, nuclear proliferation, global environmental politics, civil conflict and terrorism, human rights, gender politics, international political economy, development and other pressing international issues.

Media Studies (Major)
During your media studies programs at UNSW, you’ll learn how to demonstrate creativity, rigour, adaptability, independence and cultural reflexivity in the application of media studies concepts and methods. On top of this, you will be able to critically analyse the evolving media landscape in relation to historical, social, political, material, and theoretical contexts, including settler colonialism. Deploying a critically informed approach, you’ll dive deep into hot topics, including ethics, justice, and social engagement in media practices, industries, and contexts.
