The Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) prepares you for higher level graduate jobs in IT. It may also lead to research or leadership roles in computing, information technology or information systems, as well as postgraduate and PhD studies.

This one year degree is for students who have completed a bachelor degree in a relevant field of science, technology, engineering, environmental science or health with a high level of academic achievement. This degree will train you to undertake research and help you to develop higher level scientific and problem-solving skills.

What you'll learn

Over the course of the year you will study courses in research methods, principles and ethics, as well as research project preparation. You will complete a research project that involves laboratory and/or field work, data collection and analysis, interpretation of your results in the context of current scientific literature, preparation of an Honours thesis and presentation of a final seminar to academics, student peers and relevant industry and government stakeholders.

You will also study advanced topics related to your field of study. This could include topics such as:

• environmental chemistry and pollution monitoring
• earth sciences including isotope geochemistry
• ecology including remnant habitats and climate refugia, environmental and park management
• surface chemistry
• physics and photonics

Combine engineering skills and knowledge with broad-based business education in this double degree. Alongside your studies in mechanical engineering, develop an understanding of core business concepts such as marketing, management, international business and entrepreneurship.

Mechanical engineering is a diverse field that can be applied right across industries – from manufacturing to mining, energy, agriculture, building services, aerospace and defence. What you'll learn

In your first year you will develop a strong, general foundation in engineering. You’ll then move into your mechanical engineering major and complete core courses in business that will give you a solid grasp of business fundamentals such as international business, economics and entrepreneurship.

At least half of the honours year involves a major project. You will take the lead as an engineer in a project environment, working with industry, a government organisation, or an academic research area. There is also the option to do a full-semester internship in your honours year.

Learn water and environmental engineering theories to support our all-important waterways, resources and infrastructure. In this degree you will develop the skills specific to the water sector of civil engineering.

In this degree you’ll develop sophisticated skills in engineering research methods and project management which you will use on a major civil engineering design project, with industry representatives as your clients. You will also complete a master thesis.

You will learn advanced water and environmental engineering, developing the skills to:

• apply and synthesise water and environmental engineering theories in solving practical cases

• create and design models to be used in areas such as water resources and water quality management 

• adapt hydro-environmental data analysis methods at advanced level 

• integrate modelling technology and consolidate GIS applications in forming comprehensive water resources management systems 

• develop advanced skills to communicate with water and environmental related professionals 

This industry-relevant postgraduate qualification is for students who have already completed a three-year bachelor degree and would like to increase their employment prospects with a teaching qualification specialising in secondary education. The curriculum is solely focused on the education of children from Year Seven to Year 12.

Practical learning is a major component and you will complete 60 days of professional experience placements, starting in the first year.

In the Master of Engineering (Engineering Management) program, you will learn the latest theories and professional skills related to engineering management and apply them to the core areas, covering project management, supply chain management, quality management, operation management and resource management. You will also be immersed in practical industry operation procedures to suit becoming an engineering manager as a future career path.

What you Learn

In the first year of the program students gain an appreciation of various operational aspects of managing the operations of an engineering organisation. This includes studies in areas such as total quality management, research data analysis, principles of project management, engineering economic analysis, sustainable development and design practice, intelligent production systems, and leadership with elective courses in energy and society, robotics and automation and human resource management, strategic procurement and others.

In the second year of the program students undertake more advanced studies which emphasise the strategic management of engineering operations. This includes consideration of issues relating to supply chain management, resource management, project planning con control, and operation management. The program provides an integrative management of these various strategic aspects of engineering operations.

Construction Managers supervise various design and construction projects from beginning to end. This degree will prepare you to pursue a career in this competitive and highly sought-after field.

What you'll learn

In your first year, you will develop a strong, general foundation in engineering. You’ll then move into your civil engineering major. From the third year onwards you will commence construction management courses, such as Construction Scheduling and Advanced Construction Management.
 

You will undertake general studies in aviation including an introduction to human factors and safety management systems. You will do Flight Training Theory 1 and Commercial Pilot Theory, taught by instructors from the flight training provider. These courses prepare you for CASA Commercial Pilot Licence theory examinations.

As your studies progress you will explore more advanced and theoretical areas including meteorology, law, human factors, and aspects of the flight and performance of large aircraft systems. You will also study communication and aviation management. Your technical studies will include aerodynamics, heavy aircraft systems, navigation, and risk and safety management.

The Graduate Diploma in Aviation is a highly disciplined, technical flight training program at Parafield Airport. It is delivered in conjunction with the professional flight instructors at Flight Training Adelaide, our industry partner.

What you'll Learn

This diploma comprises seven courses delivered with our industry partner Flight Training Adelaide. You will study them at the same time as the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot).

As part of this diploma you will sit the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) theory exams. Your studies in the Bachelor of Aviation (Pilot) will help prepare you for these exams.

When you have developed the flight skills and knowledge – and passed the CASA theory exams – you can test for your Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Command Instrument Rating (CIR) flight.

This honours degree has been designed for students who have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as a Bachelor of Mathematics or a Bachelor of Science with a substantial mathematics focus.

What you'll learn

During your degree you will complete a year-long project in a major industrial, scientific or commercial project in applied mathematics, guided by an academic supervisor.

You will develop skills in literature search and review, methodologies, experimental design, data analysis and research ethics. You will have an opportunity to undertake a research problem or advanced study in mathematics through your thesis units.
