After you graduate, you may be eligible to apply for a post-graduation work permit; if Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) grants the permit, you may benefit from Assiniboine’s partnerships with industry employers. Your four-month co-op work placement may be in a smaller community outside of Brandon. Students may be required to relocate for their co-op work experience placements and travel is necessary.

Passion for the outdoors makes you a great candidate for a career in natural resources. This exciting program brings together natural resources, technology and the environment in an agricultural context. Understand the interconnection between our water and the land. Learn how to protect, manage, sustain and conserve natural habitats for wildlife and humans.

With Land and Water Management, you will often be out in the field, examining key features of the prairie agro-ecological landscape. Become skilled at monitoring and evaluating the quality of rural land and water resources, and at managing activities so that those resources are used sustainably. You will use environmental monitoring equipment to study water, land and air conditions.

Consider a career as a water manager, habitat specialist or environmental technician. You may also find a position in research, management, consulting and administration of sustainable land use practices. If you like working with science and are concerned about the environment and the quality of our natural resources, Land and Water Management is perfect for you!

The program’s four-month paid co-operative work experience will help you with real-world experience, create connections within industry and become confident in your abilities. Once you graduate, you will find yourself ready for exciting and challenging roles in industry including conservation districts, agricultural organizations and all levels of government across the Prairies and beyond.

The Business Administration program is designed with the entrepreneurial spirit in mind. Learn how to negotiate, invest, sell, market and manage people in this economy. Then, connect the dots within a strategic approach. This program will prepare you to administer and manage all types and sizes of businesses. In the second year, students specialize in one of the following areas:

• Accounting
• Financial Services
• Human Resource Management
• Marketing

These different specializations allow you to focus your career path during your second year. There are 60 credits of required courses that are common to all specializations (typically scheduled in year one for on campus students). Applicants declare their specialization at the time of applying to the program.

Human Resource Management Specialization
Graduates can anticipate applying their business management skills in areas relating to personnel administration: staffing, training and development, labour relations, compensation management and collective bargaining. Employment opportunities are available in industrial, commercial and government organizations.

You may choose to complete your first year of any specialization at either the Parkland (Dauphin) or Victoria Avenue East campus (Brandon), however only the second-year of the Accounting and Human Resource Management specializations are available at our Parkland campus. All four specializations are offered in full at Assiniboine's Victoria Avenue East campus.

The two-year Legal Administration diploma is for the students who want to prepare for a career in justice, law or real estate and incorporates procedural knowledge of Canadian legal processes in private and public law, comprehensive technical vocabulary, legal transcription in police offices and courts and higher lever administrative training. Besides, the students also learn how to chair meetings, take effective minutes and the PClaw Software.

Be recognized as a confident office professional in the legal industries. Develop your skills in legal terminology, Microsoft Office Suite, customer service and the creation of industry documents that today’s employers desire. Prepare for a stimulating career in law, justice or real estate with this two-year diploma. Understand Canadian legal processes in public and private law, gain higher administrative training, and acquire experience transcribing for police departments and court rooms.
