This exciting program will allow you to combine your interests in mathematics and computer science and provide you with a unique work experience. The 4.5-year program combines the strengths of our Computer Science program with our Mathematics program, showing you how to apply what you learn in Mathematics by using technology.

Study the cultural production, reception, and interpretation of the fine and performing arts.

You’ll examine and relate elements of Visual Arts, Dramatic Arts, Music, Dance, Interactive Arts and Science, Media and Communication Studies, Popular Culture, Film Studies and Canadian Studies. You may sample from these diverse disciplines to create a customized program.

The concentration in Cultural Management, with courses from the Goodman School of Business, is ideal for those wishing to work as cultural managers in diverse fields of arts and culture.

A cooperation between STAC, History and Geography/Tourism Studies, the concentration in Cultural Transmission and Heritage Studies engages students in cross-disciplinary curatorial projects.

The concentration in Languages, Arts and Culture allows you to combine language acquisition (French, German, Italian, Spanish) in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures with interdisciplinary work in arts and culture.

Biophysics is the physics of life, of all living systems and their interaction with their surroundings, both natural and artificial. It is a rapidly advancing field, encompassing a wide variety of areas in natural and life sciences.

Biophysics uses all methods of scientific inquiry — theory, experiment and large-scale computer simulation — to understand living systems at the molecular level.

Biophysics also forms the basis of many aspects of medical physics, another rapidly developing field in much demand right now.

Brock’s Biophysics program will provide you with a superb learning environment and exciting research opportunities. Extended research opportunities are available through Brock’s participation in the Biophysics Interdepartmental Group (BIG), based at the University of Guelph.

This program is an innovative answer to your demands as an international student, as it combines an intensive Business English program with Canadian accounting knowledge and also addresses the demands of a business world that needs accountants who can think critically, communicate effectively and respond to challenges that arise from around the globe. Your success as an MPAcc grad is due to our focus on a strong, integrative approach to accounting.

Are you interested in studying how people communicate, ways that social structures affect communication, or how new technologies are changing human communications?

The Media and Communication Studies program focuses on the impact of media and communication in the creation of meaning, identity and social change. The program emphasizes the study of media content, audiences and institutions in their political, economic and social contexts in Canada and elsewhere.

We’ll prepare you for a career in Information Technology (IT), an industry that is transforming our world and workplaces. You’ll study data structures, operating systems, database systems, industry-standard programming languages, software engineering and user interfaces.

You can take specialized courses in object orientation, computer graphics, intelligent systems, computer networks, advanced Internet, neural networks, computer music (digital music), parallel computing and compiler construction.

The honors program offers two concentrations:

• Software Engineering focuses on programming and systems analysis for application development.
• Intelligent Systems focuses on making computers solve problems that normally require human intelligence to solve.

We offer courses in French language, translation and linguistics, as well as courses on literature from French-speaking countries around the world.

Culture and civilization courses highlight the painting, architecture, music and historical events that appeared along with literary texts throughout the centuries in France. We offer a variety of opportunities to study in a French-speaking milieu, including short-term spring and summer courses in Quebec.

Our state-of-the-art Multimedia Language Learning Centre provides you with audiovisual, web-based and computer-based opportunities for language learning.

The Department of Music offers superb performance and academic instruction, pristine facilities in the Walker School and a professional auditorium in the 300-seat recital hall at the adjacent FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre.

There are a wide range of courses in music history, theory, general musicianship, solo and ensemble performance, composition, conducting, music technology and music education.

The concentration in Music Education is the perfect lead into further studies in a Faculty of Education, school teaching, or for teaching privately in a studio setting.

The Music Therapy Foundations concentration is a kind of Music Therapy “pre-med,” and is excellent preparation for graduate studies and eventual certification in Music Therapy.

The Music Performance concentration (BMus only) is for performers of the highest calibre who aspire to go on to graduate studies in performance and an eventual career concertizing. Entry to this concentration is via a juried audition at the end of first year.

Applicants complete aural, keyboard and theory placement tests, and a scheduled interview. Students applying to the Bachelor of Music program, or taking lessons, will also be required to audition on a solo instrument or voice.

Our program is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving industry, incorporating principles of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and political) in tourism management and planning. Within the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, our program examines such questions as: Can we balance the economic benefits of tourism with the negative consequences of pollution, loss of biodiversity, economic inequality and unsuitable cultural change?

The Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film offers four separate programs of study in Business Communication, Media and Communication Studies, Film Studies, and Popular Culture. A four-year program leading to the Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours degree, a 4 Year BA with Major, and a three-year program leading to the BA Pass degree is offered in all four programs. In addition, the Department is involved in programs with community colleges which offer students the opportunity to earn an honours degree in Communication Studies and a college diploma or certificate.
