This program gives you an opportunity to upgrade your academic record and gain knowledge of North American business principles. It is a carefully designed transition year that can help you bridge the gap between undergraduate studies and your MBA or MBA (ISP) experience.

The Certificate in Administrative Studies (CAS) is right for you if you:

• Would like to go on to an MBA or MBA (ISP) program but your grades do not meet the minimum admission requirements. The CAS will provide students with an opportunity to create a recent academic record.
• Have an international background and want a comprehensive introduction to the foundations of a North American business education.
• Have a non-business background and would like to gain exposure to the foundations of management for the purposes of career advancement.

Environmental geoscientists apply their unique understanding of the Earth’s composition, structure and physical processes to protect the environment and predict geologic and hydrologic hazards.

New geoscientists, trained in environmental disciplines, are required to meet environmental and resource management challenges. Current trends suggest that in North America, employment in the environmental geoscience disciplines will grow faster than the average for other occupations.

Brock’s program is designed to comply with the educational requirements for licensing as a geoscientist-in-training, the licensing classification that leads to the PGeo designation, established by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario.

Co-op Education
The path to a successful career starts in one of Canada’s most diverse co-op programs. Co-op at Brock gives you the opportunity to apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world situations. Our students test their skills daily, gaining experience and an edge in a global economy.

We’ve teamed up with the School of Applied Computing and Engineering Sciences at Sheridan College to develop a program where you may complete your Brock degree and a three-year diploma in Telecommunications Technology from Sheridan College in just 4.5 years.

The program caters to the demand for professionals with a solid foundation in software development, as well as practical technical skills in system security, telecommunications, network analysis and administration.

You’ll spend three terms at Brock studying the foundations of computer science, followed by three terms at Sheridan College studying network communications in a hands-on environment. The final two terms alternate between Brock and Sheridan.

This exciting mathematics program is flexible, innovative and provides opportunities for students to work with leading researchers to gain academic and employment experience.

Choose from a broad range of courses or concentrations in pure mathematics (development of mathematical ideas and concepts for their own sake), applied mathematics (mathematics for applications in science, engineering, economics or business), statistics (experimental design, sampling methods and data analysis techniques), MICA (mathematics coupled with modern computer software applications) or mathematics education.

Study the “science of choice” — learning how limited resources can best be used to meet the needs of individuals and society. You’ll look at how individual consumers choose to spend their time and money, and how producers predict and respond to consumer needs.

You’ll gain an understanding of the economy as a whole, from the banking system, unemployment, government debt and taxation, to international trade and exchange rates, and natural resource use and conservation.

Co-op Education

Brock has the oldest — and one of the most distinguished — film studies programs in Canada. The program focuses on critical and historical courses that examine a variety of approaches to film and related media.

Most courses include weekly film screenings to introduce you to all kinds of cinema. Studying a wide range of films provides a thorough understanding of the medium for future filmmakers, critics and teachers. There are optional courses in video production, and you may become involved in the Brock University Film Series (BUFS) and/or Brock TV.

The Professional Masters Preparation Certificate (PMPC) is an eight-month preparation program that guides you through the challenges that you will encounter as an international student in a North American professional graduate school. We’ll help you improve your English language skills, gain confidence in academic situations and create a North American academic record. The PMPC is dedicated to helping you overcome foreseeable academic and cultural difficulties and acquire the understanding and skills to make the transition to graduate work smoother and ultimately more successful.

The PMPC is a formal certificate program. Students who successfully complete this program will receive a Brock University certificate. You will also be considered for conditional admission to either the MBA (ISP) or MPAcc (ISP) for the next intake when you apply.

Are you interested in how children acquire language, how the skills of second-language speakers develop, how various language disorders can be diagnosed and treated, or how social or cultural environments interact with language?

Hearing Sciences: Learn about basic science and communication processes, including the anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, acoustics, linguistics, child language development and selected disorders of human communication. Concentrate in Hearing Sciences and learn about sound, hearing, and hearing disorders, and prepare for admission to graduate audiology programs

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers this interdisciplinary program as a combined major.

Courses are taught in English and cover the literatures and cultures of Western Europe, as well as Romance Linguistics. French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish texts are read in translation and assignments are completed in English.
