Entrepreneurship - Concentration
Learn about the entrepreneurial process and experience the steps in starting a business—from idea inception to implementation in the marketplace. BCom students take courses with non-business students in the Minor in Entrepreneurship, creating a collaborative and interdisciplinary classroom environment. Carleton offers support and funding opportunities for student entrepreneurs.

Linguistics is the scientific study of one of the most fundamental aspects of being human: using language to communicate. Linguists explore a range of fascinating ideas, including what it means to know a language, how we process and produce language, language structure, how children acquire language, variation and diversity in languages across the globe, language disorders and delays, and how languages change over time.

At Carleton, students learn to study linguistics from a dedicated faculty with a diverse set of research interests, including theoretical and experimental approaches and methods.

Students in the BA Honours can choose from two concentrations to tailor their Linguistics degree to their interests: Linguistic Theory or Psycholinguistics and Communication Disorders. Qualified students in the Psycholinguistics and Communication Disorders concentration have the opportunity to take a practicum course that provides clinical experience in speech-language pathology.

The Bachelor of International Business (Honours) is a four-year degree program that gives students the foundation and global perspective they need to make a difference in the world. Intensive language training and intercultural skills gained through firsthand international experience prepares students for careers around the world.

International Marketing and Trade
This concentration develops the necessary skills to help companies successfully expand to, and compete in, international markets. You will learn how to adapt business strategy to the cultural, political, legal, economical, technological, geographic and historical factors that result in buyer behaviour and marketing strategy differences around the world. You will also learn how to assess various foreign expansion alternatives that companies face when going abroad.

Marketing - Concentration
Gain critical thinking, analytical, decision-making and creative skills to effectively manage the development, pricing, promotion and distribution of products and services. Learn how to build and sustain high-value customer relationships in competitive environments.

Marketing graduates pursue careers in marketing strategy, sales, advertising, product/brand management, customer relationship management, marketing research, public relations and e-commerce.

Computational Biochemistry allows you to complement your studies in biochemistry with a rigorous program in computer science, mathematics, computational methods and data analysis. It will give you a strong background in core areas of biology and chemistry such as genetics, cell biology, organic chemistry and analytical chemistry. You will take a variety of lecture and laboratory biochemistry courses, including bioinformatics. Optional courses allow you to focus on areas such as molecular genetics, pharmaceutic drug design, functional genomics and protein structure and function.

Acquire the knowledge necessary for an engagement with the critical dimensions of global politics. This specialization takes a problem-focused and applied approach to the study of global political issues such as economic relations and the gap between rich and poor, democracy and its economic and political benefits, human rights and the different emphasis placed upon rights by different societies, war and peace, ethnic conflicts around the world, and the politics of the environment. You will gain the skills and experience necessary to better understand and engage in the myriad of arenas in which global politics takes place, including the United Nations, development banks, civil society organizations, refugee organizations, international NGOs and others.

Computer game development has become a sophisticated subject, drawing on advanced knowledge in a number of areas of computer science, such as artificial intelligence and computer graphics. In this stream, you will learn about both the principles and practice of designing and developing modern computer games.

Carleton’s Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) is a wide-ranging and career-focused program that will provide you with the skills required to succeed in the rapidly changing worlds of medicine, biomedical research and healthcare research. You will gain a strong foundation in the scientific knowledge and methods involved in the study of human health, along with the capacity to engage in broader multidisciplinary, multi-sector, and multicultural approaches to finding solutions to some of the most crucial health issues of our time.

Health Throughout the Lifespan
This concentration focuses on health and illness through the stages of human life. There are few health sciences programs in Canada that include lifespan studies, and Carleton’s program is unique in featuring courses that explore the entire lifespan, from neonatal development to old age. You will learn about the biological aging process, including how events occurring early in life can have effects that appear much later, in the form of medical conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression. In addition, you will explore the biomedical basis of health and disease, and have the opportunity to learn how factors such as gender and social conditions can influence health.
