This two-year co-operative education program consists of four academic levels and one co-op term. Students are prepared, through a wide variety of career-related courses and industry work experience, to meet the limitless challenges of the dynamic tourism/travel industry. Students are prepared for careers in the multi-faceted tourism industry with emphasis on travel counselling. Strong emphasis is placed on development of personality and attitudes necessary for success in this customer service field.

Developed in conjunction with the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA), the program is designed to ensure that graduates meet the standards and qualifications of the Association, and students may seek certification upon graduation.

Every person working for a registered Ontario retail travel agency and selling travel services or providing travel advice to the public must, by law, meet the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) Education Standards. The opportunity to seek certification will be provided.

Professional Butchery Techniques is an Ontario College Certificate program that will provide students with the comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge to be successful in the growing meat processing industry. Throughout the program, students will engage with industry professionals to learn the latest techniques for meat cutting, with a focus on specific skills in trimming, deboning, carcass breakdown, and sausage making. Additionally, students will learn how to package and market meat products for resale. The program will have a strong emphasis on sanitation and food safety. Throughout the two term program, students will have the opportunity both to work substantially in the lab, practicing hands-on skills, and to build customer service and entrepreneurial skills by participating in the launch and operation of a small business: a full-service retail meat outlet.

  • Process the beef front quarter, beef hind quarter, a side of pork, a carcass of lamb, a side of veal, and various types of poultry into wholesale and retail cuts;
  • Practise procedures used to control foodborne illness in compliance with recognized industry standards, food service laws, and government regulations;

Special Events Planning is a two-year diploma program designed for individuals interested in a career in event management. Designed by industry professionals, students will be exposed to the vast types of special events, from social events, corporate meetings, festivals, conventions and large sporting events. Students will develop essential event management skills such as planning, assessment, communication, critical thinking.

This program will explore current trends and technologies in the event industry, including; software applications, food and beverage, PR and sponsorship logistics, risk management,  business tools and more. Students will gain hands-on experience in planning, marketing and executing events.

The Food and Beverage Management (Co-op) program will prepare students for careers in the global food service industry. The program provides practical training in our on-campus restaurants and kitchens. Students will be actively involved in the day-to-day operations of a formal restaurant, as well as event planning banquets and catering. The academic studies will also include such disciplines as accounting, computers, cost control, human resources management, marketing and ending with an in-depth entrepreneurial project. The students will also gain a variety of industry recognized certificates including: smart serve, safe food handlers, wine and beer sommelier.

Co-operative Education
In order to be eligible for co-op, students must maintain a 2.0 GPA and be academically complete at the commencement of their co-op work term.
