This program is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide support services to people living at home, in long term care or acute care facilities, and to function as integral members of the health care team. Upon successful completion of this program, students learn to effectively communicate with clients, families and members of the health care team, and to provide safe and competent care for individual clients experiencing physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural challenges. Personal Support Workers (PSWs) are unregulated health care providers who work under the supervision of a regulated health care professional or in the supported independent living environment under the direction of the client.

The Acupuncture diploma program provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the entry-level standards of practice set by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario  (CTCMPAO). This program provides in-depth theoretical and clinical components of Acupuncture. Students benefit from expert clinical training that combines integrative healthcare models with Traditional Chinese Medicine, providing graduates with the necessary skills to practice as a regulated healthcare professional.

This program is designed to prepare students for exciting employment opportunities in the golf sector of the hospitality industry. Theoretical concepts taught in the classroom are blended with practical learning opportunities gained through exposure to various golf facilities in North America. Students are exposed to all aspects of golf operations from turf care and maintenance to the operation of retail outlets and golf event planning. Students also gain professional and entrepreneurial skills for industry and self-employment, as well as real life experience through participation in a work term and extensive field trips to golf courses in Canada and the U.S. 

Begin your career as a baker or pastry chef! Through hands-on training, students will study traditional and contemporary baking methods, the basics of pastry, cake decorating and contemporary dessert plating. Through classroom lectures, students learn baking theory, nutrition, trade calculations, sanitation, food safety and business concepts to support skills used in the daily operation of a bakery. Using global industry trends, graduates are prepared to critically think, innovate, and to professionally apply business management skills for lifelong career success as a baking professional in all sectors of the food service industry or as entrepreneurs.

In this program, students develop and foster advanced creative and artistic ability in a variety of studio areas. Through practical and theortical mechanisms, students are challenged to achieve their individual goals and objectives as artists within a variety of traditional and non-traditional media. Students investigate critical perspectives, synthesize advanced skills and apply advanced evaluative techniques. Students gain professional and entrepreneurial skills for professional practice and self-employment, necessary to successfully operate within the various professions of fine art.

Through a blend of theoretical and hands on experiences, students gain the knowledge, skills, beliefs and values necessary to meet the Inter-Jurisdictional Practice Competencies and Performance Indicators as set out by the Federation of Massage Therapy Regulatory Authorities of Canada. Students also participate in our public clinic and off site agencies, which allows students to assess and treat a diverse patient population. This program fosters the development of a well rounded, independent entrance level professional who will be able to meet the demands of a massage therapy practice.

Note: Applicants following the fast track will apply through OCAS using the major MASF. The Winter intake is offered as fast track only; the Fall intake is offered as regular and fast track.

Students in this program prepare to work with engineers and construction project managers as part of a team constructing roads, bridges, sewers, water mains, and other infrastructure. Students determine data for cost estimation, perform materials testing, and assist in the administration of projects in the field. Teamwork and project-based learning are emphasized.

This program is common with the first four semesters of the Civil Engineering Technology program, and graduates may choose to continue into the third year of that program.

Students gain occupational skills for employment in the construction and renovation industry. Students practice lot layout, concrete formwork, framing, demolition, renovations, interior and exterior finish and sustainable construction techniques. Theory and applications of safety standards, building codes, blueprint reading, energy efficiency, and environmental practices are studied. Students learn to interpret the Ontario Building Code as it applies to renovations and new construction. Focus is on the residential sector. Basics of entrepreneurship are presented.

Students are prepared with the knowledge and skills to practice emergency out-of-hospital medical/trauma care and to function as an integral member of the health care team in assisting victims of injury or illness. Graduates of the program will have demonstrated the ability to safely and competently care for a diverse population in emergency and non-emergency situations. They will also be expected to administer medical interventions, including controlled medical acts, and provide compassionate care. The program is comprised of classroom, laboratory, hospital clinical and field placement experience.

This program offers the student an introduction to college studies, with emphasis on critical thinking and analytical skills developed while studying courses in the Social Sciences and Humanities. Many students use the General Arts and Science program as a transition to further studies at either the college or university level. Students can also choose to continue from the one-year certificate to the two-year diploma in General Arts and Science.
