Human geography is a branch of social science that focuses on the relationships between human societies and the built and natural environments in which they operate. You will have the opportunity to learn about topics of real world concern through supervised research projects, paid work experience, a two-week field school, and activities such as blog entries, posters, and presentations. This program introduces Honors Mathematics students to the fundamental principles, philosophy, and origins of statistics and probability theory. It allows you to broaden your portfolio of interests and transfer your theoretical skills to the discipline of statistics.

Our Secondary Education program in the Faculty of Education prepares you to pass on your love of learning and discovery in almost any subject to students in grades 7-12. You’ll choose two areas of specialization — a major and minor — allowing you to pursue your passion and customize your experience.
• The Secondary Education program includes a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). You will typically teach in your Major subject in both your IPT and APT.
• This degree is normally taken as a four-year program but can also be taken as an after-degree. Upon completion of this program, you will be recommended for teacher certification in Alberta.

STS explores the interaction of science and technological innovation with the past, present, and future of the wider world. This program will help you think critically about how social, political, and cultural values affect innovation and research, and how innovation and research in turn affects human life. You will gain a fully interdisciplinary experience with courses from Anthropology, Art and Design, Economics, English and Film Studies, History, Sociology, Philosophy, and more.

For the past five decades, the University of Alberta has offered the only accredited BSc Petroleum Engineering degree program in Canada. Study the processes that occur within all living organisms, including the regulation of functions at the sub-cellular, cellular, tissue, organ, and whole-organism levels, as well as their interactions and integration. Specific areas of study include endocrinology, neurophysiology, developmental biology, immunology, cell signaling, toxicology, and environmental physiology in a wide variety of organisms.

Examine planet Earth: the materials from which it is made, the processes that affect these materials, and the origin and evolution of life. Our Geology degree is certified by the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA) and includes a number of field placements, which give important hands-on training to supplement the knowledge taught in classrooms.
