Computer science at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science combines the study of computation and information processing fundamentals with their application in the world around us. Computer scientists build fast, reliable, scalable and secure software systems to organize and analyze information. The honours curriculum comprises advanced topics in databases, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, security, distributed computing and algorithm design, culminating in an honours project. 

This program teaches graduates how to use their creative and innovative talents to conceive, design and implement software systems. The French Immersion Stream is now available to all students in the Computer Science program. Our degrees are very flexible and include options, minors and a major, which can be used to explore connections between computer science and many other fields of study.

The School of Music at the University of Ottawa is one of the country's leading music schools. Although any of our programs can pave the way for a career in education, musicology, music journalism or arts administration, the Bachelor of Music (BMus) is designed specifically for students wishing to become career musicians. Admission to the BMus therefore requires that you audition on your main instrument and demonstrate an intermediate or advanced level. In addition, the University of Ottawa is one of the only institutions in the country to offer the possibility of combining the BMus program in performance with a major in science.

The MHK program in Sport Management is professional course-based and offers students a unique educational experience by exposing them to a wide array of information required to manage sport organizations, such as: marketing, finance, organizational behavior, organizational theory, and legal issues. In addition to benefiting from the faculty members' expertise in sport management, students get unique insights from sport industry executives and get opportunities to participate in real-life projects, activities, and experiences. At the heart of the program is a supervised internship that aims to foster the personal, academic, and professional development of students.

Environmental issues fill the headlines — climate change, the oil sands, species loss, to name but a few. Is it possible to grow the economy and protect the environment at the same time? Is our current economic path sustainable? The Honours Bachelor in Environmental Economics and Public Policy provides students with a multidisciplinary understanding of the environment, the economy and the interaction between the two. The program includes a CO-OP option, and students may also undertake a research internship in the public or non-profit sector in fourth year. All students undertake original policy research in a capstone course in either environmental or natural resource economics. The program opens doors to careers in environment-economy policy development and analysis in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

The period known as the European Middle Ages has endowed the Western world with a rich architectural, musical, poetic, theological, literary and linguistic heritage. Our vision of the world has its origins in the Long Medieval period, so studying this era that starts at the end of Antiquity and reaches the Modern times introduces you to your past in all its dimensions: linguistic, cultural, historical, political, philosophical and religious. These multidisciplinary programs include courses in history, philosophy, music, theatre, English, French, Italian, and Latin literatures.

The School of Music offers the Master of Music (MMus) with concentration in Composition, the Master of Music (MMus) with concentration in Performance and the Master of Arts (MA) in Music. Performance studies are offered in piano, collaborative piano, voice, orchestral instruments, guitar, and conducting.

History is the discipline that focuses on the diverse and complex ways that individuals and groups have created and adjusted to change over thousands of years around the world. In studying change over time, history students learn to interpret evidence of human thought and behavior, in order to understand the impact of individual and collective decision-making, the changing relationships among people and societies, and between humans and their environment.

If it moves, a mechanical engineer designed it! Mechanical engineers are responsible for a wide range of mechanical, thermal and biomedical systems and devices, from computer parts to power plants, from manufacturing systems to spacecraft. This is a broad-based area of engineering, and graduates find work in almost every industrial sector, including high tech, aerospace, manufacturing, auto, energy, biomedical and consulting.

Upon completion of a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical engineering, a student who completes the requirements specified below for 30 extra units will be eligible for a BSc in Computing Technology, as a second degree. The remaining 132 units are from their engineering degree; students follow the engineering degree requirements and the computing technology degree requirements in parallel. It is not allowed to obtain the computing technology degree without also completing the corresponding engineering degree.

The Honours Bachelor's in International Development and Globalization combines theory and practice within a rigorous academic program and provides students with field experience through work and study terms in Canada and abroad.

Our marketing program is designed to teach how and why people and organizations purchase and consume goods and services. Marketing is a system of interacting business and organizational activities designed to plan, develop, price, promote and distribute products and services. The study of marketing concepts has expanded to include an understanding of the environment in which buyers and sellers operate. Recent applications of marketing to formerly unrelated activities, such as political elections and promoting government programs and agencies, are introduced in more advanced courses for analysis and discussion. As a result of the increased breadth of marketing and the complexity and size of the decisions to be made, marketing requires a good knowledge of both the quantitative and the qualitative concepts, models, theories and techniques of the other areas taught at the Telfer School of Management.
