The Master of Design (MDes) is a postgraduate-level degree in the field of design, awarded by higher education institutions around the world. The field of design is of course constantly changing, and careers in design typically call for a combination of personal creativity with professional skills such as project management. Designers are tasked with the challenge of examining and reimagining a huge range of physical objects which we use in all aspects of our daily lives.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering programme at JKLU provides fundamental knowledge of the basic concepts and theories of analysis, systems implementation, operation, production, and maintenance of the various applications in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. M.Tech. in Health, Safety and Environmental Engineering prepares professionals who will be able to:
• Interpret and apply legislative requirements, industry standards, and best practices in a variety of workplaces.
• Collect, manage, and interpret information and data to identify hazardous conditions and practices in a variety of workplaces.
• Prevent and control harm to workers, property, environment and the general public by conceiving, designing, and implementing alternative engineering and management systems and practices in compliance with laws and/ or employer policies by using principles of engineering, industrial safety, risk management, data analytics, automation, and state-of-the-art platforms, components and tools.
• Serve in fields of environmental health and safety, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, safety and occupational health in business, consultancy, industry, government, healthcare, education, research, etc.

This programme helps to make career in Big Data Analytics. Huge amount of raw, semi-structured and unstructured data is generating at uncontrollable pace. It features data as assets which can be used to analyse, correlate and predict. In almost every organisation, there is a requirement of Data Scientist and Data Analyst to perform data oriented tasks. Expertise in Big Data Analytics domain leads to handling of business intelligence, large scale data mining and data warehousing projects. Course covers dynamic paradigm in business analytics & optimisation, data warehousing & multi-dimensional modelling, Business Intelligence, and Web & Graph Analytics.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the primordial branches of engineering. The programme incorporates courses from the area of design, manufacturing, and thermal. To remain in sync with the industry, the programme offers compulsory core courses, department electives, interdisciplinary courses, open electives, and practice schools for industrial training. The associated laboratory work and projects provide an opportunity for hands-on experience and a better understanding of the course. Project-based learning is adopted, where students are encouraged to innovate and work on a project while learning the course. On completion of the four year degree programme, students get equipped with a solid foundation in core mechanical engineering disciplines, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering that has evolved over the years with the modernisation of technologies. To fulfil the emerging trends in mechanical engineering, many new concentrations have been added to our curriculum like Automation and Robotics. In the current era, almost all the mechanical systems like cars, air conditions, refrigerator, etc. are amalgamated with electronics and electronic devices to make the process automatic. We have come up with this unique concentration where the students of mechanical engineering can learn both the fields of engineering. Robots are deployed in industries to make human life easy and convenient. The automation and robots in industries are capable of accomplishing tasks which could otherwise be hazardous for humans. To fulfil this need of time, we have incorporated a curriculum in electro-mechanical subjects to the concentration in automation and robotics.

Conceptualised and created by eminent scholars and industry stalwarts, this interdisciplinary diploma is a unique blend of courses in mathematics, programming, economics, political science, academic writing, and critical thinking. B.Des. in Interdisciplinary Design has a flexible curriculum that combines courses from the various domains and disciplines of Design with courses from other institutes of the university. This allows you to leverage new age technology, hone an entrepreneurial mindset and become adept at understanding form and aesthetics, visual language and user-centric approach to develop products and systems in any discipline.

• Electives have been provided to create a career bridge for doctorate studies in Embedded systems and IoT learning
• Industry Projects and Internship where IoT is used for automation.
• Hands-on skills in Low Power Embedded Systems, Industrial IoT, IoT Laboratory with Raspberry Pi 4B+ with Computer Vision (Jetson Nano), IBM Cloud Services, R and
• Python Programming, Industrial Protocols OPC UA.
• Assessing tools: Node Red and interfacing with any Cloud Services.

The B.Des. Programme begins with the common foundation programme for all disciplines.

The first year is a Common Foundation across different streams of design that enables you to acquire the requisite basics before embarking on three years of more specialised design education programme. Hands-on skill courses like Design drawing and Workshop skills like material manipulations, including working on a variety of materials like Wood, Bamboo, Sheet metal, Aluminium, and others form an integral part of the course curriculum.

Learn basic design theory, thorough grounding in elements of form, colour, and aesthetics besides the important sensitisation courses like Environmental Perception and History of Design that aim to give you a complete understanding and perspective of Design as a whole.
Apart from these regular inputs, you also get to learn basic computer skills, photography, printing basics, and presentations. Get introduced to critical thinking, culture studies, and communication that give you an edge in your chosen profession. Basics on Leadership courses along with inputs on Entrepreneurship prepare you for a fulfilling career ahead. We encourage you to write blogs, keep a journal, maintain a sketch book to develop deeper interest and insight in the subject.
