This two-year programme will equip you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to work as a quantity surveyor, on both residential and commercial building projects. It covers means measurement, estimating and cost planning, as well as procurement, programming and financial administration of contracts. This highly practical program will equip you with the skills and theory necessary to become a radio professional. We develop your understanding of the changing media environment, your practical research skills and prepare you for a first-time position in radio or online. You'll study production and performance while operating a commercial radio station, broadcasting throughout the Canterbury region.

Our program has been strongly influenced by industry groups such as NZME, Mediaworks and The Radio Broadcasters Association. This Level 5 program covers a broad range of computing topics and skills including installation, configuration and administration of hardware and software systems; networking and associated services and technologies; security; database management; problem solving; IT service management; web and software design; and development. You'll also enhance your knowledge of professional, ethical and legal principles and practices, and develop your communication and interpersonal skills.

You'll gain discipline-specific skills and knowledge, starting with a focus on small domestic buildings then moving on to low-rise and large commercial construction, then heavily serviced, multifaceted projects.

Your year-two project work and assessments will require problem solving, independent research skills and application of cultural approaches and aspects of sustainability. In the third year you'll be required to source and organise technical, project and academic research information, and evaluate, critique and propose well-rationalised solutions.
