The Bachelor of Science (Honours) is for students with an undergraduate degree in applied mathematics, computer science or science.

At the heart of the programme is the honours dissertation; an independent small-scale research project on a scientific topic. We have strong links with key industry organisations, and many students complete their research project in collaboration with an industry partner. courses in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) focus on the latest developments in applied mathematics, computer science and science.

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree is a one-year, research-only master's degree.

Criminology is the study of crime and its effects on victims and society, and the workings of the criminal justice system including the police, courts and prisons. Criminology is a great choice if you want a career in an organisation associated with the criminal justice system.

In the Criminology major you develop a sound understanding of criminology in national and international contexts. You explore crime and policing in New Zealand and overseas, approaches to crime prevention and punishment, restorative justice and critical issues facing the criminal justice system. Throughout the major, you develop problem-solving skills related to criminology and criminal justice.

The International Studies major helps you develop the skills to contribute effectively in this changing global environment, and interact with people with different backgrounds and world views.

To contribute to the increasing globalisation of the world, countries need people who understand the impact of global trends and issues, and can interact effectively in a multicultural environment. Intercultural competence is a skill highly valued by employers around the world.

In this major you can include courses from social sciences, business, culture, education, applied linguistics or languages. It’s a great addition to another major, especially in science, technology, engineering and maths.

The Microbiology major prepares you for careers in this interesting and dynamic field.

Microbiology is the study of living organisms and infectious agents that can’t be seen by the naked eye. You explore the role of microorganisms across many areas – human health, industry, agriculture and the environment.

You develop the skills for careers in a wide variety of settings in industry, research or government organisations. Graduates of the Microbiology major could also be involved with the industries that produce antibiotics, foods and drinks, or alternative fuels.

Spatial designers create places for people to live, work, play and imagine. Study the Spatial Design major to prepare for a career designing interiors, furniture, exhibitions, events, outdoor spaces, retail environments, scenes for stage and film, and art installations. As a spatial design student, you unlock the potential of places by designing spatial environments that support, influence, and transform how we live now and into the future. You’ll learn from an expert team who has been teaching spatial and interior designers for nearly forty years.
