The New Zealand Diploma in Business is a stand-alone program providing a firm understanding of business in the New Zealand environment along with the most valuable attributes that are required in the modern business era. You’ll choose from two majors: accounting and leadership and management.

In particular, the program is designed to:

• Apply a broad range of business knowledge and skills as well as specialised knowledge and skills in selected fields of business.
• Be proactive to changes in the local, national and global business environment.
• Demonstrate business competencies including problem solving, decision-making, negotiating and using technology effectively.

The NZ Diploma in Music is a one year program that will develop your practical skills during individual and group projects to prepare you for a diverse and exciting career.

What you will learn:

• Incorporating Ableton Live and other software into performance.
• Advanced performance and recording methods specific to your instrument.
• Multi-tracking and live recording in a professional studio environment.
• Audio engineering and editing in Pro Tools and other software.
• Writing and arranging music for small to large bands.
• Finding out which funding bodies apply to you and creating usable grant/scholarship applications.
• The ins and outs of writing music professionally.
• Utilising social media and other online platforms to boost your professional profile and market your events.
• Collaboration with Screen Production, Fashion and Visual Arts students.

The NZ Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise is a one year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program which offers you stimulating studies and provides a pathway to a career in the wide field of recreation, sport and health. This program has close links with the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science.

In particular, the program is designed to enable you to:

• Understand human body structure and function with emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system
• Develop knowledge and skills related to professional practice in the recreation and sport industry
• Understand the relationship between nutrition, physical activity and other personal health behaviours and health
• Develop knowledge of a range of sporting and recreational activities through practical experience and active participation
• Understand the sport and recreation industry in New Zealand
• Design and apply group exercise programs
• Assess physical performance, apply exercise techniques and design exercise for people with special needs

This degree will give you a strong foundation in business and help you gain the skills today’s employers demand. You will benefit from a wide-ranging business education with plenty of practical experience, and you can choose to specialise in majors in:

Accounting Major
Graduating with an accounting major will enable you to undertake accountancy related work in the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. With appropriate course selections you will be able to meet the provisional admission requirements Chartered Accountant (CA) with either Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) or CPA Australia. The Program Coordinator can advise you on appropriate course selections.

Management Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include the areas of: human resources; operations management; or developing your own business.You will work initially in roles such as Team Leader, Functional Manager or Management Trainee, progressing to more senior positions with experience.

Marketing Major
Typical opportunities after graduation include work as a Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Account Manager or Product Manager and progressing to more senior positions with experience.

The NZ Diploma in Wellness and Relaxation Massage is a one year fulltime or equivalent part-time programme, which offers you stimulating studies leading towards a qualification as a massage therapist.This program provides practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in massage and has close links with the Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science. You will be qualified to work as a wellness and relaxation massage therapist in a broad range of wellness and relaxation massage settings.

The Bachelor of Computing Systems (BCS) will equip you with foundation knowledge of computer hardware, networking communications and security, data and databases, information systems and IT management, systems analysis, design, and development, and internet and mobile technologies.

Depending on the stream of courses you select, you will develop the ability to design and implement high quality IT solutions within your specialisation, and apply the professional processes necessary to achieve successful outcomes for organisations.

The BCS program equips graduates with the skills and practices to achieve entry-level IT positions to pursue a professional career in the industry. In particular, the program is designed to:

Develop your critical thinking skills and the ability to lead and influence businesses and organisations for a future of commercial, community, and environmental sustainability in Master of Applied Management, You will gain specialised business knowledge and skills and the ability to apply business knowledge by building on existing qualifications and experience, resulting in a comprehensive understanding, professional competence and leadership skills in modern business and management.

Advance your knowledge and capability to meet the future needs of the national and global logistics and supply chain industry. The postgraduate program suite in logistics and supply chain management will prepare and upskill students for success in the industry.

The Master of Wine Business and Innovation (MWBI) is a Level 9 program of 240 credits, completed by coursework, industry integrated project, or applied research.

The philosophy underpinning the Wine Business and Innovation suite of programs is to provide a breadth of knowledge and a business focus to those wanting to develop their skills and progress within the wine industry. The programs can serve as rigorous professional development for those already within the wine industry, and as an advanced level pathway into the industry for those in other areas.

The Bachelor of Viticulture and Wine Science enables graduates to pursue a professional career in the winemaking industry by gaining technical, scientific and managerial expertise in both growing quality grapes and making world class wines.

The degree provides a strong science foundation with practical application and industry interaction in all three years. There is an in-depth focus on growing grapes and making wine, as well as the essential business skills required once working in industry related to people management and wine marketing.

The latest research, industry technology and important issues related to sustainability are key topics. You will get an opportunity to make your own wine, work in a vineyard, complete a harvest internship, complete a research project in collaboration with industry, develop a wine palate and gain practical skills like tractor driving, first aid and forklift operation within the degree structure.
