Human resource management and employment relations involve managing relationships between people and organisations. The role of HR professionals is to shape and support organisations and their employees.

The BBus (Human Resources and Employment Relations) looks at how employees are recruited, developed and managed. It also examines the design of work so that an organisation can create value from, and add value to its employees.

During your study, you will get a thorough grounding in workplace theory and approaches, as well as practical insights into the business world.

Our lecturers are actively researching, bringing the most relevant developments in business theory and practice to your study. They also have hands-on experience and real-world knowledge of human resource management and employment relations. You’ll have the opportunity to try out your ideas for yourself through project work.

You’ll explore the developmental and cultural factors that influence approaches to learning. You’ll gain transferable skills that will serve you personally and professionally.

With a Massey Diploma in Arts, you can study what you enjoy and explore subject areas that spark your interest.

You can complete the Diploma in Arts with or without an endorsement in a subject area. Completing the diploma without endorsement lets you sample different subjects and build a qualification that reflects your own particular interests.

If you want to take an endorsement, you can choose from 25 subjects from the Bachelor of Arts degree and specialise in the one that sparks your passion.

Massey’s Diploma in Arts is extremely flexible and you can include courses from many disciplines, including some from outside the humanities and social sciences.

Undertake a shorter, more flexible study option with the Diploma in Science and Technology at Massey.
Later you may have courses you have passed under the diploma qualification credited to a bachelor’s degree. That will be on the proviso that the courses comply with the regulations of the degree in question.

The course is open to anyone who has gained admission to Massey University, but in some cases, specific courses may require a subject background at level 3 NCEA.

Massey's Bachelor of Arts (Economics) gives you flexibility in the subjects you study. You will gain a strong grounding in the core elements of micro and macro-economics. You will build on this by choosing from a selection of other subjects (electives), including:

The Master of Business Administration (Business Sustainability) specialisation is about building businesses that last and organisations that are resilient in the face of a fast changing world.This MBA specialisation enables you to build management competence and governance structures that facilitate the identification and implementation of innovative practices, products, and services that are sustainable and resilient.

This program will expose you to businesses and experts within New Zealand and overseas who have had successes and overcome challenges in building sustainable enterprises. Both the strategic and operational aspects of developing and leveraging innovative sustainable products and services while mitigating risk are addressed in this specialisation.

Massey’s Master of Science (Human Nutrition) will give you the knowledge and experience you need to interpret and contribute to current issues in human nutrition.

Studying software engineering will see you gain the knowledge, tools, and practical skills to be able to design, construct, test, and maintain large software applications.

The Bachelor of Information Sciences (Software Engineering) is a joint major which means that you will study aspects of both computer science and information technology.

Your learning will focus on:

With Massey’s Postgraduate Diploma in Construction (Digital Built Environment) you’ll gain construction management skills for the modern world.
You’ll gain knowledge in the following areas:

• Application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools across the lifecycle of a building project.
• Examine data collection and analysis techniques, and their application in construction research.
• Become familiar with new technologies such as drones, virtual reality, 3D printing and other technologies as they apply to the construction industry.
