Social anthropology is the study of the relationship between human beings and culture. It gives you a deeper understanding of cultural variation and cultural change. It allows you to better understand your own culture as one among many possible ways of being human. Social (or cultural) anthropologists seek to understand cultural differences. That includes the many ways people maintain and change the culture in response to new social contexts. Social anthropologists bring a comparative approach to the description and analysis of society based on fieldwork that extends across the globe, from hunter-gatherers to industrial nation-states.

Finance and financial decision-making include determining what to invest in, how to pay or finance the investments and what to do with the money earned on those investments.

Politics is life, and like life, politics is a struggle. The study of politics equips you with the concepts, theories and facts necessary to make sense of that struggle. Politics is about us: how we make decisions in society and who gets what, when and how. Politics is also concerned with the conflict of ideas and values, not only at the level of the local community or the nation but also internationally. More specifically, it has to do with who governs and how and why decisions that affect all of us (such as how much students pay to study at a university) are made.

Human resource management and employment relations involve managing relationships between people and organisations. The role of HR professionals is to shape and support organisations and their employees.

The BBus (Human Resources and Employment Relations) looks at how employees are recruited, developed and managed. It also examines the design of work so that an organisation can create value from, and add value to its employees.

During your study, you will get a thorough grounding in workplace theory and approaches, as well as practical insights into the business world.

Our lecturers are actively researching, bringing the most relevant developments in business theory and practice to your study. They also have hands-on experience and real-world knowledge of human resource management and employment relations. A Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Earth Science) is a stepping stone to a research-based degree.Massey University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology (Earth Science) gives you the opportunity to join the pathway to in-depth research at a masters level. The qualification consists of 90 credits of taught courses and 30 credits of research. If you complete the qualification at a satisfactory level you may be able to proceed to the Master of Science (Earth Science). If so, credits you have gained through this qualification may be credited to the master’s qualification.
