The Graduate Diploma in Information Sciences (GradDipInfSc) is intended mainly for graduates in an unrelated area who are seeking to retrain or upskill in the information sciences.  Many of the students are studying via distance (online study) because they are working full time.

Massey is one of the few universities in New Zealand where your information sciences qualification covers all five disciplines of computer science, data science, information technology, information systems and software engineering.  Many graduates have found it really useful to complete the Graduate Diploma “with no endorsement”.  This means that you can select the courses you are most interested in from across the range of subjects.  You are strongly encouraged to select “no endorsement”.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Science is for who have been able to demonstrate extensive practical, professional, or scholarly experience of an appropriate kind.

Sociology is about understanding and describing our local society and its global setting. Sociologists are interested in almost all aspects of the social world. During your study of the Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) you will consider questions such as:

With a Massey BA (Sociology) you will ask challenging questions about how things really are in the social world. Human resource management and employment relations involve managing relationships between people and organisations. The role of HR professionals is to shape and support organisations and their employees.

The BBus (Human Resources and Employment Relations) looks at how employees are recruited, developed and managed. It also examines the design of work so that an organisation can create value from, and add value to its employees.

During your study, you will get a thorough grounding in workplace theory and approaches, as well as practical insights into the business world.

Our lecturers are actively researching, bringing the most relevant developments in business theory and practice to your study. They also have hands-on experience and real-world knowledge of human resource management and employment relations. You’ll have the opportunity to try out your ideas for yourself through project work.

A versatile major, the Bachelor of Business (Economics) trains you in understanding how the economy operates at both micro and macro levels. You will study the business environment, the role of competition and the connections between different sectors in the economy.  You will learn about the effects the world economy has on New Zealand business and people. This includes what the government can do to foster healthy businesses and advance innovation, but also about effects of excessive government interventions.

In this major you can specialise in a number of areas including: international trade and finance, resource and environmental economics, financial economics, managerial economics and public policy.

Massey’s Master of Science with a major in biological sciences gives you expertise in a broad range of biological and fundamental sciences.

When you study Massey’s Master of Science with a major in biological sciences you don’t have to focus on one particular type of science. You will gain expertise across a range of your interests.

Are you interested in subjects like microbiology, genetics and biochemistry, but don’t have all the prerequisites you need to specialise? Do you want to open the door to a broader range of careers? A major in biological sciences gives you a broad-based degree that keeps your options open.

Within the degree you can focus on one particular area of science, or keep your study broad - the choice is yours.

Chemical and bioprocess engineering is the industrial processing of raw materials to higher value products through combinations of physical, chemical or biochemical action. These processes can be very diverse. Chemical and bioprocess engineers design, optimise and operate these processes.

Examples include:

• fermentation of sugars to alcohol
• production of pharmaceutical products
• extraction of high value compounds
• composting of organic waste
• conversion of milk solids to dairy ingredients
• conversion of wood into paper
• production of fuels from waste streams.

The Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering) will equip you with core chemical engineering skills for more traditional industries (oil, gas)
