If your aim is to become a professionally qualified counsellor, this is the program for you

After completing this program, you’ll be able to enter the counselling profession at a beginning practitioner level. Practical placements are an essential part of the program and you’ll spend time working in community agencies and organisations. Once you’ve graduated, you’ll be able to apply for provisional membership of a relevant professional body such as the NZAC, Te Wh?riki Tautoko, DAPAANZ or NZ Christian Counsellors Association. You’ll have developed the skills and professional attributes to enable you to work collaboratively within this increasingly complex and interdisciplinary sector.

The Bachelor of Social Work qualification will provide you with the core professional competencies and attributes required to enter the social work profession. In doing so, you will be awarded a provisional registration at the level of a beginning practitioner. This is the first step to becoming a fully registered social worker after completing two years of supervised practice. Field placement is a significant element in this program which will enable you to get firsthand experience through voluntary work and supervised placements in a social service agency.  You will also develop a range of flexible skills and professional attributes which will position you well to be responsive to and to work collaboratively within the increasingly complex and interdisciplinary social service and health communities. The skills you can during this degree are also applicable across a wide range of roles.

With this qualification you can start your career in an entry-level Information Technology support role, or pathway into the second year of the Bachelor of Information Technology.

NMIT offers a Master of Applied Management pathway qualification. This qualification can be completed full time over 15 months, or part-time over a longer period. This Level 9 qualification brings together theory, applied practice and research, tailored to your needs and your industry.
