Architectural Technicians use their construction and drawing knowledge to make building designs become a reality.

They produce drawings and documents that enable pricing, consenting, and construction of domestic and commercial building projects. They also create architectural models and specifications and may be involved in administering construction contracts.

Students in this program will learn to prepare fully detailed drawings and specifications for the construction of buildings, both manually and using CAD packages.

Students will be equipped to work as an architectural technicians in small-to-medium-scale building projects.

After an additional period of suitable experience, students will be able to work on larger and more complex building projects.

What you will learn

Year one includes documentation for small buildings, materials and structural principles, construction for small buildings, feasibility and environmental impact.

Year two includes construction for medium and large buildings, design in the built environment, virtual design, and construction.

Students will study a range of modules that will teach them to:

• Research, prepare and communicate design and construction documents for small to medium scale projects
• Assist with researching, preparing and communicating design and construction documentation for large or complex building projects
• Assist with general practice management
• Demonstrate oral, oral, and written communication skills in both formal and informal styles
• Demonstrate social, legal and cultural contextual knowledge

The Bachelor of Applied Management degree is designed for those with a drive to succeed in business, with a practical focus and a flexible structure.

This degree's practical focus increases employment opportunities when students graduate, with small class sizes helping to build strong one-on-one learning relationships with tutors.? The flexible structure allows students to choose from a range of majors and a wide variety of elective modules.

Accounting:

In this pathway, students will learn the theory and practice of accountancy, critical thinking, decision-making, and business analysis. The course also includes financial reports and business tax regulations. Before they graduate, students will complete an accounting project for a real business as their final assignment. There are two accounting pathways to choose from - the non-CAANZ/CPA pathway, which has greater flexibility, or the CAANZ/CPA pathway, which allows the potential to become a chartered accountant.

This programme is for those who want to enhance their degree or work experience with knowledge and skills in public relations, advertising, and media practices. Students will work on live projects with real clients, with support from tutors with industry experience.

To be successful in public relations or advertising, students must be an excellent communicator, a problem solver, a lateral thinker, interested in contemporary issues, creative and able to work under pressure. The Graduate Diploma in Communication (Level 7) can help develop students' abilities in these areas and prepare them for a career in these exciting industries.

Students studying the Bachelor of Communication at Wintec will learn to communicate effectively with flair. Working individually and in teams, they will hone their storytelling and analytical skills gaining industry-relevant skills and knowledge through hands-on, client-focused projects.

Introduced to both creative media and digital marketing, students develop their expertise in their chosen endorsement through project roles and elective choices, with the opportunity to further specialise in their third year.

Digital marketing
In addition to core communication skills, writing, multimedia storytelling, and creative media production, students will develop further skills to operate strategically in the marketing environment. Students will learn:

• Social media and brand strategy
• Campaign development and delivery
• Marketing communication
• Analytics and reporting 

Students will generate campaign strategies for brands, along with the creative content for marketing, advertising, and storytelling. They will work with clients, leveraging digital channels such as search engines, social media, email, and websites to connect with audiences. They will understand how their target market works through analysis and be able to deliver relevant solutions.

Students in this program will learn the knowledge and skills to deliver quality information technology services and develop effective communication skills to support and enhance various organisations and industries.

Students can choose to specialise in one of the following five specialisations:

Network engineering
For those seeking a career in the field of network engineering, network administration, cyber and network security.

Software engineering
For those seeking a career in software engineering, software development, big data and analytics, mobile applications development, and software testing.

Web development
For those seeking a career in web design/development, web applications development, and mobile applications development.

This program is designed to provide students with a broad base of business knowledge, and gain role-specific skills in either accounting or leadership and management.

All strands will learn about business operational functions, business communication, the New Zealand business context and interpersonal relationships.

In the accounting strand students will study financial transactions, financial statements, budgeting and taxation, and decision-making and analysis. This strand may equip graduates to work towards the academic requirements for CAANZ’s Accounting Technicians College.

In the leadership and management strand students will study business planning, project management, and leadership.

Supply Chain Logistics explores how to recognise, analyse and solve global logistics and supply chain issues. This moves beyond the logistics of production & engineering into the broader range of activities that effectively links suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to end-users.

This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress into supply chain and logistical management positions. This program includes a work placement and research project.

Core studies include learning how to identify important phases of supply chain and logistical management from internal and external perspectives; evaluating and critiquing existing operations; identifying supply chain and logistical issues, and creating effective and sustainable management solutions.

Other relevant topics include project management, operations management and e-commerce in relation to supply chain logistics. The final module – BIBM788 Professional Project – includes a work placement and research project, bringing together all that has been learnt in the classroom.??? This is a great experience, where students get the opportunity to showcase their skills and talents and build networks and business relationships that can lead to job opportunities.

In this program, students will gain a strong foundation of knowledge across a broad range of different information technology skills, as well as an advanced level of expertise in a selected specialisation.

Students will undertake core modules that cover the fundamental skills required for a career in IT, for example, software engineering, database architecture, web development, business analysis, communications technology, operating systems, systems administration, and network engineering. Students will also gain practical, industry-aligned skills that employers demand from our graduates as well as new and emerging fields including cloud computing, big data and analytics, DevOps, business intelligence, agile development, web and mobile app development, games development, AR/VR, intrusion detection, vulnerability assessment, and security.

Our degree is also designed to provide students with a broad skill-set and holistic understanding of the wider context of the IT business domain and the global IT industry, as well as specialist knowledge in a specific area. Technologies and tools used within the degree are ever updating but currently include python, C#.net, Visual Studio, Java, Android development, MS Server, Active Directory, Unity3D, Unreal, Cisco, Fortinet, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Laravel, PHP, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Power BI, AWS, Azure, Hadoop, and much more.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

Students will extend their domain of practice through undertaking a body of sustained, independent research. This in-depth investigation is in the student's chosen area of communication, design, music or visual arts practice within a research-focused learning environment. The program will prepare students for high level investigation of, and intervention within their chosen academic or professional field.

This programme will assist practitioners in gaining advanced knowledge and skills to effectively manage the demands of rapidly changing, and increasingly complex health and social care practice environments.
