Overview
Students will develop their own musical voice and learn skills for a career on stage, behind the curtain, or in the production suite.
Music and performing arts students work alongside each other to learn technical, theoretical and professional skills while developing their expertise in their chosen endorsements. Through additional elective modules and large-scale projects, students have the opportunity to specialise in their chosen field as they move through the degree.
This degree has two pathways:
Music
Along with technical, theoretical, and professional skills, students will explore audio production, composition/songwriting and performance, and develop expertise in one or more of these areas through elective choices and specialisation within the core modules.
Audio Production
Capture and shape sound in innovative ways. Audio production students will learn:
Technically engage with a wide range of music and multimedia contexts and develop a heightened sense of listening. Students will develop an understanding of the technologies and innovations of how sound is captured, manipulated, and reproduced.
Performance
Perform music in live and studio environments. Performance students will learn:
Students will develop a rich understanding of musical interpretation and enhance their practical, creative, and critical skills to become a professional musician in a variety of performance settings. Students will have opportunities to learn from professional teachers to develop technical and artistic skills on their chosen instrument/voice.
Composition/songwriting
Expertly craft the elements of music. Composition and songwriting students will learn:
Gaining the expertise to create music as a standalone art form alongside video/film, theatre, games, and other emergent technologies, students will develop control of the technology needed to craft the elements of music for a range of musical genres.
Performing arts
Along with technical, theoretical, and professional competencies, students will develop further skills to be creative theatre practitioners.
Performing arts students will work on arena musicals to intimate plays, dance shows to cabaret, and explore:
Students learn in real theatre environments from some of New Zealand’s leading directors, choreographers, actors, musical directors, and writers. Additionally, students will perform regularly within the Wintec music and performing arts scene and are encouraged to audition for and participate in community, regional, and national productions while studying.

This program provides students with postgraduate study leading towards professional and higher academic practice. Students will learn within a research-focused learning environment, and will extend their domain of practice through research in their chosen area.

In this program, students will gain a strong foundation of knowledge across a broad range of different information technology skills, as well as an advanced level of expertise in a selected specialisation.

New Zealand Diploma in Construction - Quantity Surveying
Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.
Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. Strategic Management
In their first year, students will complete the eight core modules required for the applied management degree. These modules will give students the important broad skills they will need to excel in any business area. During their second year, students will take three modules for the strategic management major, choose three other modules toward a second major, and study two core modules – Applied Management and Research Methodology. In the third year, students will study two more strategic management modules and two other modules towards a second major. Students will also apply their skill on work placement with a local business.

Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain Logistics
Supply Chain Logistics explores how to recognise, analyse and solve global logistics and supply chain issues. This moves beyond the logistics of production & engineering into the broader range of activities that effectively links suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers to end-users.
This program is for those with a degree in another subject who want to progress into supply chain and logistical management positions. This program includes a work placement and research project.
Core studies include learning how to identify important phases of supply chain and logistical management from internal and external perspectives; evaluating and critiquing existing operations; identifying supply chain and logistical issues, and creating effective and sustainable management solutions.
Other relevant topics include project management, operations management and e-commerce in relation to supply chain logistics.
