Many of our students choose to study law because they’re motivated by the idea of helping people. And so, from your first year, you’ll have the opportunity to work in our law clinics in Cambridge or Chelmsford. With support from qualified solicitors, you’ll advise members of the public on legal issues.

As you move into Year 2, you can also take part in our mentoring scheme, and get advice and guidance from a legal professional

It’s well worth joining our student Law Society, too. They take part in national competitions such as Mooting, and have a track record of success. It could be a great achievement to add to your CV.

All this practical experience is, of course, backed up by classroom teaching. Our lecturers combine academic modules with those that focus on areas of professional practice, such as human rights law.

As you progress through the LLB (Hons) Law course, you’ll have the chance to take optional modules and explore areas of law that are of particular interest to you.

Whichever area you focus on, you can rely on our personal tutor system, which offers regular, structured support throughout your time at ARU.

Our Masters degree is the longest established MA Music Therapy course in the UK, and is taught at the internationally renowned Cambridge Institute for Music Therapy Research. We earned the Queen's Anniversary Prize in 2021 for our music therapy research, receiving particular recognition for our focus on the wellbeing of people living with dementia.

We welcome applications from practising with appropriate clinical experience, who would like to use music to support the health and wellbeing of patients and clients.Supported by experts, you’ll gain a strong foundation in the principles and practice of music therapy, underpinned by the latest research and evidence base.

Our MA Music Therapy is accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council, so when you graduate you’ll be eligible to register with the HCPC – a legal requirement for your future career as a practising music therapist in the UK.Studying our full-time two-year Masters in Music Therapy will show you how you can use your music to support the health and well-being of patients and clients.

We’ll introduce you to the most recent, effective music therapy approaches, which you can try out in clinical placements in locations such as schools, hospitals and other community settings.You’ll be supervised by qualified music therapists, gaining invaluable experience of working in a multidisciplinary team and preparation for your future career.

At ARU, you’ll be taught in our purpose-designed music therapy centre and have access to a wide range of musical instruments, recording equipment and suite of computer music studios.Our experiential teaching includes developing your improvisation skills, focused work on your first instrument, and using keyboard, single line instrument and voice. You’ll also study music therapy theory and links to practice.

Master advanced data science tools and techniques and learn to apply them across a range of industries, with our Applied Data Science conversion degree in Cambridge.Data science promises to enhance technology, business models, and decision-making across a range of sectors – from manufacturing to social care; and cyber security to banking.There’s strong demand for data scientists. Our Applied Data Science Masters degree will give you the knowledge and analytical skills you need to join this rapidly growing sector.

As it’s a postgraduate conversion course, you don’t need a degree in computing or data science to apply.Study at ARU in the centre of Cambridge, and benefit from a week-long placement as part of your course.Our MSc Applied Data Science degree takes you, step by step, through the major building blocks of data science.

By studying at ARU, you’ll gain highly marketable skills such as programming, data acquisition and cleaning, data analysis and feature extraction, data visualization, data mining, and machine learning. As a BA (Hons) Digital Media Production student at ARU, you’ll develop your digital design and visual communication skills. Work towards a clinical career with children, or take the next step towards a doctorate by studying a Masters in Clinical Child Psychology at ARU. Gain an advanced academic understanding of developmental disorders and childhood mental health; and investigate causes, assessment, classification and treatment.

Our Clinical Child Psychology Masters degree course provides you with a strong foundation for research and will complement your professional clinical training. You’ll gain a comprehensive theoretical knowledge of the field, as well as the practical ability to design and evaluate clinical research programmes.

Specialist modules focus on diagnosis and treatment of different conditions, developmental psychopathology (including causes and impacts) and the broader issues surrounding psychological research.

While studying clinical child psychology at ARU, you’ll also train in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including infant observation, assessment and diagnostic interviewing, neuroimaging (electroencephalography and magnetoencephalography) as well as neuropsychological assessment. This leads up to your dissertation project, which will involve significant independent research with the guidance and support of our expert staff.

Please note that this course does not include clinical work with children, patients or mental health service users. It does not constitute professional training, though it can support entry to a doctorate in clinical psychology (or equivalent). We encourage you to seek out relevant paid or voluntary experience while completing your studies; our course is designed to facilitate this.

Our Masters in Publishing will take you on a journey through the contemporary publishing industry, giving you key skills and knowledge for a career in publishing and related fields.You will investigate how books and other publishing products and services are commissioned and completed, including the modern production processes and business strategies used to succeed in the competitive media environment.

On our Sport and Exercise Science degree course at ARU, you’ll explore the scientific principles and techniques that underpin health, wellbeing and sporting performance.

Sports and exercise scientists can work at all levels, from the general population to elite performance – and our course prepares you for that.

You’ll study the nature of the human machine: how this operates when engaged in sport and exercise, and how to interpret and evaluate its responses.

Our students are based in the Cambridge Centre for Sports and Exercise Sciences. Here, you’ll learn to work safely and ethically as a sport and exercise scientist in our laboratories.
