Our BEng (Hons) Electronics and Robotics is designed to put you at the forefront of today’s engineering world.

Placing an emphasis on Industry 4.0 concepts such as digital tools for engineering, the internet of things (IoT), and systematic, project-based approaches, it’ll equip you with skills and knowledge that are in high demand among employers.

Electronics and robotics engineers are required to think originally and critically; work innovatively, creatively and sustainably; and consider the social, commercial, legal and environmental impacts of their work. Throughout the course, you’ll have opportunities to practice these skills, making you well-prepared to enter the workplace when you graduate.You’ll gain experience of every aspect of the development of smart connected electronics and robotics systems today, helping you to discover where your talents and interests lie and determine how you want to use your degree.

ARU’s teaching facilities include our Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab, where you’ll be able to practice your skills from the first year. It will be your safe space to learn all the tricks of the trade. This way, you’ll be ready for your first graduate role with proficiency in contemporary platforms that are used around the financial world.

Receiving an industry-recognised Bloomberg certification on graduation will only increase your pool of career options. From chartered management accountant and credit analyst, through management consultant and corporate investment banker, to bank manager, marketing executive, project manager or environmental manager – the routes after this degree are immeasurable.

You’ll get the skills and knowledge you need for a variety of roles in construction and the wider property world. You’ll develop your style as a manager and explore technological, economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political and sociological factors and their effect on project management.

Engineering is in everything and an engineer is continually looking at how to improve products and the world. It’s about taking a product or system seeing whether it can change to meet demand – whether that is in development, processing, design, or even the materials used.

Our new four-year MEng Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering degree course is about combining the mechanical with the electrical. It's been created with a focus on project-based learning, allowing you to take the theory you've learned in class and apply it in a hands-on project module that runs throughout Year 1.

You will study alongside other mechanical engineering students, specialising in mechatronics and robotics manufacturing in your final year and in certain modules throughout your course. You will focus on the electronic application of engineering – how this can blend with mechanical engineering to move technology forwards.

While studying our Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering degree course, you will learn through a wide range of lab sessions. We explore manufacturing, 3D printing, thermodynamics, dynamics, and structural analysis so you can analyse, calculate, model, and experience your proposed concepts. As a part of your project-based learning you work in a multidisciplinary team with students from different areas of mechanical engineering. This integrated learning will allow you to develop skills that area invaluable to future employers, including analytical and creative problem-solving skills. You’ll also benefit from dedicated support from our experienced staff, who are experienced industry professionals and expert researchers.

Our Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering course leads you through computer-based advanced design, simulation and modelling practice in various topics including computational engineering, fluid dynamics, stress analysis, and industrial management

You’ll benefit from using our workshop and laboratory facilities. These include CAD/CAM and engineering computer modelling centre, industrial-scale CNC milling and lathe machines, metal and plastic rapid prototyping machines, scanning electronic microscope, Instron bi-axial fatigue-testing machine, tensile-testing machine, material-preparation facilities, welding equipment, electronic testing and measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generating and testing facilities, wind tunnel, air compressors, steam engine and many more.

At ARU, our Architectural Technology degree course focuses on the link between building design and production. It gives you the technical understanding to bridge the two – and take the lead on major built environment projects.

In our specialist model-making studios and out on site visits, we’ll explore the technology of architecture. You’ll become adept at fine-tuning the design of buildings so that they’re truly usable, liveable and sustainable.

As a BSc (Hons) Policing and Criminal Justice student at ARU, you’ll develop your knowledge and skills by studying real-life cases and academic research, and taking part in interactive learning.

You’ll debate the most pressing issues facing police forces today, including sexual offences, fraud investigation, counter-terrorism initiatives and cultural diversity. You can also examine the trial process, and practice presenting evidence in front of a judge and jury, in our own on-campus mock courtroom.

We’ll help you work towards your career goals from day one. Our modules, trips, simulations, guest lectures, and work experience opportunities with local police forces and criminal justice practitioners will help you discover where your interests lie and build valuable skills and connections. You’ll also boost your CV as you develop your leadership, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

Health inequality means that we don’t all start with the same chance in life. The need to recognise public health issues has never been so important.

From interviewing students about drug and alcohol addiction, to creating a campaign about exercise and nutrition in a poor area of the UK, to writing a report to inform a government about a rare disease in a developing country – the diverse nature of public health means that no two days are the same.

It’s a sector that’s brimming with career opportunities.

Public health covers three key areas:

• Health improvement: this includes work to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities by promoting health lifestyle changes. This can include helping people to quit smoking or improve their living conditions; promoting healthy eating, or tackling underlying issues such as poverty and reduced access to healthcare.
• Health protection: this area can cover the safety and quality of the environment, food and water, preventing the spread of communicable disease and managing outbreaks – such as pandemic flu – and addressing the health effects of climate change.
• Healthcare: public health professionals help to make sure that health and care services are fit-for-purpose and accessible to all sectors of the population.

By studying BSc (Hons) Public Health at ARU, you’ll gain practical skills and the confidence to work collaboratively in groups.

As a student here, you’ll take part in simulated scenarios and community-based research, as well as creating reports, presentations and demonstrations to present to panels and judges

Back in the classroom you’ll gain the research and analytical skills to interpret data. When you graduate you’ll be equipped to use evidence to help plan and implement health solutions for individuals and communities and to develop effective health policies. You’ll also be aware of important issues like health inequalities and social justice, be familiar with health needs assessment and data analysis tools, and have developed effective communication skills.

We’ve worked with public health stakeholders, including Public Health England, the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) and Health Education England to create our course, and our teaching staff are part of international networks which inform everything we do.

From developing technologies and health trends to your social media presence and campaigning, we monitor the public health landscape and change with it, so your degree is always relevant.

As a Public Health student, you’ll constantly consider your career; engaging with public health occupational frameworks and demonstrating a range of UKPHR standards. This will be supported by a work placement and the portfolio that you’ll create from day one – and take right through to interviews and registration.

Our Building Surveying degree course is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), so when you graduate, you can take your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) and qualify as a Chartered Surveyor.
