As well as covering the basics, our course includes a number of optional modules. Choose to explore business innovation, financial management, leadership or intercultural management – and tailor your studies to suit your interests.

Throughout your Business Management degree you’ll also benefit from lectures and seminars on CV preparation, job-hunting, obtaining work experience, using social media to enhance your professional profile, and more.

And finally, we work with employers to make sure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and abilities they look for. They help us review what we teach and how we teach it – so you can be sure you’re working on projects that reflect the needs and priorities of business.

At ARU most of our business degrees also include an optional placement year, giving you the chance to spend a year working in industry and to add valuable work experience to your CV.

Whatever your background is, our course will meet your personal, professional and educational needs through engaging with innovation, research and leadership.

For the blended version of the course, each module starts with a two day workshop to explain the module and expectations. It's also an opportunity to build relationships with peers and staff. Part-time students will do two days of workshops and one module per trimester. Full-time students will do four, one-day workshop and two modules per trimester. The workshops will be in Chelmsford but if numbers are sufficient they can be put on at our Cambridge campus.

The rest of the learning is distance learning through the virtual learning environment. This has been built as a very innovative learning environment which addresses all learning styles.

For distance only students, the workshop will be replicated online through our virtual learning environment.

Each module takes a virtual international journey – the first is the Siberian express travelling from Moscow to China. Students can collect different types of learning materials at each station and the complete tasks, activities and exercises to help develop their learning on each subject area. Students also have access to a blog and a discussion board to post answers and questions with an alert on each one so the distance learning module tutor managing the environment will then be alerted when students have posted. There's also a goods van with study skills material in it.

Our Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab in Chelmsford offers you the chance to enhance your employability, through virtual trading and live financial information on global stock exchanges. We believe that the sooner you start, the more you’ll get out of it. That’s why you’ll be using Bloomberg, with full support, from Year 1.

Our Civil and Structural Engineering four-year degree course will give you all the technical skills and intellectual know-how to be a civil engineer in a constantly changing world.

Our MEng course focusses on infrastructure engineering and will give you the practical skills and experience needed to work on multimillion pound infrastructure projects. You’ll develop crucial mathematical, technical and design skills that all civil engineers need, while taking a more holistic view of the overall design of a built environment which is resilient to future challenges.

With our newly designed courses your learning will be based around the civil engineering project, giving you the chance to immediately apply the theory you learn in class to the challenges of the project.

Studying our MEng Civil and Structural Engineering degree course will give you the knowledge and skills in the management of construction projects. You will assess the safety of a structure such as an old building to approve it as safe for others to work on, and provide specifications and calculations for designs.

Using our specialist workshops and labs you will learn how to carry out site investigations, select the best materials for the job, analyse and design structures and engineering systems, plan the construction process and assess and mitigate the environmental impact of the project. You’ll design, analyse, build and test your projects, developing your technical skills and knowledge through hands-on practice, preparing you to hit the ground running as a graduate civil engineer.

Our facilities are the perfect places to test and research different materials and designs. Throughout your engineering degree, you’ll work in specialist labs for geotechnics, hydraulics, structures, engineering materials and concrete testing. Caring for acutely ill adults is a demanding and important role, and we’ll help you develop the skills and expertise to practise effectively and compassionately. You’ll learn how to provide specialist clinical care while at the same time transforming your existing qualification/s into a BSc (Hons) degree.

Choose to study in Cambridge, Chelmsford or Peterborough, alongside other students with a particular interest in this area. It’s a great opportunity to learn from each other. Together, you’ll explore and apply the current policies, laws and procedures that affect the care of acutely ill adults. Once you’ve graduated, you’ll be able to register with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and start working as a chartered quantity surveyor. You have the option to study this course as a four-year degree with foundation year. In your first year you'll study with our partner, ARU College, on our Cambridge campus. In Years 2-4 you'll study in Chelmsford or ARU Peterborough.
