The MA in Children's Literature and Literacies gives you an opportunity to deepen your passion for literature written for children through research-led modules that engage with emerging frameworks and debates. Supported by a team of academic specialists, you will investigate theories of literacy development, and the learning and reading experiences of children and young people through interdisciplinary, inclusive, and current approaches. You will critically explore ‘classic’ texts and contemporary publications across a range of genres, ranging from poetry, picture books and non-fiction to graphic novels and digital applications, aimed at readers from 0-18. You will examine the nature of literacy and literature in a digital age, their current existence and future directions. This MA will foster your academic capabilities and individual interests through conceptual and empirical research.

If you don’t have, or don’t think you will attain the normal tariff points for studying at BGU, this course will enable you to study for a degree without any UCAS points. The course is delivered over four years and includes a Foundation Year, which gives you a perfect introduction in what it means to be a university student, equipping you with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective undergraduate study. Our course has been developed in consultation with Health and Social Care services, thus ensuring relevance to provision within the community and meeting employers’ expectations.

In recent years, the context of health and social care delivery has been a constant talking point across public and political agenda, and was a key feature in the manifestos of all political parties in the recent UK election due to the concerns that systems are overwhelmed by unprecedented demand (Oliver, et al, 2014). The UK population of over 75’s is projected to more than double in size in the next 20 years, with over 22% of our population already over 65.

All sectors within health and social care provision require both high quality initial education and training alongside sustained and consistent updates (i.e. Continuous Professional Development (CPD)) both informally and formally, through creditable programmes of learning and education.This BSc provides an entry point into a number of career paths in the Health and Social Care sectors. It is designed to allow students to pursue and apply knowledge and understanding of health and social care following a systematic approach to evidence based practice. Applied research is embedded throughout, supported by objective observation and critical analysis.

If you are a graduate working in education and looking for academic and professional development and experience, this could be the course for you. It is flexible, part-time, wholly online masters degree and is designed for busy professionals. The BA (Hons) Business programme provides a thorough grounding in a range of business subjects including marketing, finance, management, entrepreneurship and leadership, the chance to work with a wide variety of organisations through our links with industry and the opportunity to develop projects and expertise in areas that you are interested in.

This programme equips you for both employment and self-employment and gives you the confidence to succeed in the business world. Modules are contemporary in nature and tackle key issues facing organisations and society head on.

Modules are taught and assessed using a variety of active learning techniques where you are encouraged to take charge of your own learning through engaging with academic knowledge and research, tutors, external organisations, and your peers. Your assignments are developed in conjunction with industry experts and throughout the duration of your programme you will be given live briefs to fulfil for your clients. You will have the opportunity to undertake a work placement and an international field trip (that you will be required to self-fund) in the second year of the programme.
