Study an exciting range of English literature from writers across the globe and from different eras or movements, such as Victorian literature and Romanticism, as well as classic and renowned authors including William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe. Alongside your English Literature curriculum, you can choose to study French, Mandarin or Spanish from either beginner level or post-beginner level. You will develop your linguistic skills and also gain an understanding of the social, cultural, political, historical and artistic topics from the Francophone, Chinese or Hispanophone world.

Taught by lecturers with industry experience, this course will hone your key competences as you study core topics that cut across business and entrepreneurial practice. Innovative modules will teach you relevant knowledge and equip you with practical skills. You’ll be able to take part in a collaborative consultancy project with businesses in the Leicester area and simulate a new venture creation using SimVenture software. You will also have the opportunity to pick the optional final year module, Venture Creation Project, where you will get to create a feasible and compelling solution to a new business venture within a specific market and pitch your idea to a panel consisting of staff, experienced entrepreneurs and potential investors.

Exploring primarily modern and contemporary history, our course is diverse, international in focus and innovative. Reflecting the globalised world we live in, the curriculum covers a wide range of European and non-European histories and explores topics such as colonialism, decolonisation, immigration, ethnic minorities and gender.

This course will hone your ability to absorb, communicate and critically analyse complex information. As you progress through the course, we’ll challenge you with more in-depth explorations and you can deepen your own historical interests. Applied Computing BSc (Hons) is a practical, vocationally oriented course providing students with knowledge and skills for the modern, computer-driven workplace. The course is a contemporary mix of traditional computing subjects with professional and work-related skills.

The core modules include Introduction to Computing, Computer Ethics, Data Analytics, Information and Database Design, Programming in Python, Project Management, Human-Computer Interaction, Programming with APIs and Frameworks, Mobile Application Design and Development, and Artificial Intelligence. In addition to the core modules, there are a number of optional modules for students to choose from including Information and Communication Technologies for Development, Information Security Management and Governance, Internet of Things, and Advanced Database Management and Programming, so you can tailor your learning to your areas of interest.

In your final year, you will select from a range of specialist options and also complete a computing project.
