You will be taught by experienced, research-active academics and clinical experts who will present the latest advances in medicine and science, and study a range of topics, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Inflammation and Immunobiology, Evidence Based Medicine and Clinical Perspectives, Cancer Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Nutrition through the lifespan. As the course progresses, you will be introduced to more advanced medical topics, and start to relate the understanding of normal healthy physiology with pathological processes.

You can choose to enhance your employability through an optional sandwich year work placement, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and develop practical and professional skills that you can apply to your learning.

Teaching is delivered by our expert staff at the Cyber Technology Institute, which has been named as an NCSC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research thanks to its pioneering research in incident response and cyber threat intelligence, industrial control systems and sociotechnical security.

Our Cyber Technology MSc course consists of four main themes –Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics and Software Engineering. It can be studied by combining modules from all five categories, allowing you to specialise in your chosen area of interest. Alternatively, you have the opportunity to choose mixed pathways, for example the choices of modules could lead to a degree in Cyber Technology with Artificial Intelligence.

The production and utilisation of energy is a key global issue. Governments and industry are becoming increasingly aware of balancing energy production and utilisation with the need to be environmentally conscious and energy efficient.

This course addresses energy production, storage and utilisation. Develop your understanding of the production and efficient use of conventional and renewable energy sources for power generation, and modern energy storage solutions, complemented with elements of energy economics. You will gain a strong understanding of key principles in engineering, mechanics, electricals and electronics, and will explore specialist topics in modules including Sustainable Buildings, Energy for Transport Applications and Low Carbon Energy Technology.

You will have the opportunity to gain industry experience by undertaking an optional work placement. Recent placements have taken place at companies such as Cummins, Network Rail and Caterpillar. We also place a strong focus on employability through industry relevant modules, including Energy Economics and Policy and Project Management.

Graduates of this course go on to a vast range of careers in production, utilisation, energy storage and management, design, research and development, environment control and policy making.

The field of data analytics is becoming increasingly more relevant and important. Insight-driven businesses are said to be growing at an average of more than 30 per cent each year, creating a demand for professionals skilled in data analytics.

This course provides a broad understanding of information systems coupled with in-depth exploration of analytics knowledge and concepts to help you derive valuable information and insights from data. The course covers a range of subjects to prepare for a career in the sector, and benefits from insight from DMU’s internationally-renowned research institutes, embedding ethics and the impact of computing and technology within the modules.

Students are exposed to industry-standard concepts, tools and technologies, exploring the fundamental underlying principles of data analytics. On graduating from this course, our students are equipped with the skills needed for successful careers in industry or academia, as competent and independent lifelong learners. The programme will prepare you for careers in fields such as data and systems analysis and design, system, security, project and knowledge management, big data architect roles, data consultant roles and business consultancy.

Health psychology is an expanding area of global employment with opportunities for graduates in hospitals, universities and community-based and local authority organisations. Designed and delivered in collaboration with researchers and practitioners within the field, this course will give you the opportunity to explore the many ways in which psychology can be applied to an understanding of health and illness and to modern healthcare systems.

You will also attend distinct interprofessional learning event for the equivalent of 2 days throughout the programme. These will focus on inter-professional relationships and interdisciplinary working in healthcare settings. All academic staff contributing to the course are research-active, have presented their research at national and international conferences and published in specialist journals including Social Science and Medicine, Psychology and Health, and Journal of Health Psychology.

On this course, you will develop an advanced understanding of your design practice, and discover how emerging digital technologies can enhance your skill set, in order to take an individual and innovative approach to tackling complex industry challenges.

The MSc programme is tailored for students with BSc degrees or engineering design degrees, so that they can build on their prior technical knowledge. There are no engineering modules on the MSc, instead the broad curriculum has been designed for you to respond to the assessments by applying industrial product design and engineering design principles within concepts, final specification and design. As an MSc graduate, you will have the technical engineering design expertise that will make you ideally placed for industry roles in manufacturing, product and industrial design - or to continue onto further research and development within the industry or by studying a PhD. English Language with Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a stimulating, thought-provoking course designed to make you think about how language functions in the world today.

English Language with TESOL at DMU allows you to combine the study of English Language with the key theoretical and practical issues involved in the field of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

The course is designed to enable you to develop your own ability to teach English to non-native speakers whilst enabling you to think about how language in general and English in particular functions in the world today. You will study linguistics, grammar, the evolution of the English language and a variety of writing styles, while also exploring the theory of how to teach English as a second language. You will acquire skills in the analysis of digital communication and the study of language through the application of digital tools and methodologies.

You will develop a set of linguistic and analytical skills, which will help you become a highly-skilled communicator and prepare you for a range of careers.
