As part of our approach to digital humanities, you will have the opportunity to see how communication and language operate on web-based platforms, and how the application of digital tools and methods can deepen the knowledge of your chosen subject area.

This versatile degree programme boasts an interprofessional and dynamic approach to learning that provides students with a framework for exploring key issues in contemporary public health in the UK. In addition to consideration of different theoretical perspectives, alongside the application of theory to current public health challenges, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning to fit specific career interests, build their confidence and acquire specialist skills sought by employers.

As a student, you will explore and critically evaluate a range of issues that define the current health scene, with a specific focus on factors related to wellbeing. You will cover varied and extremely relevant topics, including: health psychology, health sociology, public health, health promotion, health and social care management and health inequalities. You will have the opportunity to choose from elective modules in year three including Substance Use, Addictive Behaviour and Health; Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Social Exclusion and Health.

Fashion buying requires both strong commercial understanding as well as theoretical knowledge. After looking at the roles and responsibilities of buyers – from design concept to point of sale – you’ll focus on the business side of fashion, building your knowledge of planning, branding, public relations/communications and social media platforms.

You will study computer-aided design (CAD) to ensure that your design and marketing concepts can be presented and communicated in a professional, and industry-recognised, style. You will also cover report writing, data selection, presentation and critical analysis.

Develop the practical skills needed to take on the challenges of our rapidly evolving industry, focusing on the shift in consumer demand from high street to online shopping. With an emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility, we aim to give you the tools you will need to drive innovation at all stages of the buying process.

Reflecting the globalised world we live in, the History curriculum covers a wide range of modern and contemporary European and non-European histories, exploring topics such as colonialism, decolonisation, immigration, ethnic minorities, racism and gender.

You will also gain an understanding of the role politics plays at local, national and global levels and explore the crucial issues in contemporary international politics that are impacting our world. Our research-informed curriculum provides both the practical tools and the theoretical knowledge to understand a wide range of political issues and respond to the current social, political and economic challenges.

As you progress through the course, we’ll challenge you with more in-depth explorations, and the subject matter will become increasingly complex. You can choose to specialise in either History, Politics or International Relations. You’ll be supported by a passionate teaching team who provide a dynamic learning environment and whose national and international expertise is embedded within the curriculum.

The production and utilisation of energy is a key global issue. Governments and industry are becoming increasingly aware of balancing energy production and utilisation with the need to be environmentally conscious and energy efficient.

This course addresses energy production, storage and utilisation. Develop your understanding of the production and efficient use of conventional and renewable energy sources for power generation, and modern energy storage solutions, complemented with elements of energy economics. You will gain a strong understanding of key principles in engineering, mechanics, electricals and electronics, and will explore specialist topics in modules including Sustainable Buildings, Energy for Transport Applications and Low Carbon Energy Technology.

You will have the opportunity to gain industry experience by undertaking an optional work placement. Recent placements have taken place at companies such as Cummins, Network Rail and Caterpillar. We also place a strong focus on employability through industry relevant modules, including Energy Economics and Policy and Project Management.

Graduates of this course go on to a vast range of careers in production, utilisation, energy storage and management, design, research and development, environment control and policy making.

On this course, you will learn leading-edge economic theory and put that theory into practice by applying it to real-world problems. You will graduate with in-depth knowledge of economics and finance and be in the position of connecting the outcomes of such approaches to decision-making within the broader context of national and international policymaking.

Teaching is delivered by our expert staff at the Cyber Technology Institute, which has been named as an NCSC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research thanks to its pioneering research in incident response and cyber threat intelligence, industrial control systems and sociotechnical security.

Our Cyber Technology MSc course consists of four main themes –Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics and Software Engineering. It can be studied by combining modules from all five categories, allowing you to specialise in your chosen area of interest. Alternatively, you have the opportunity to choose mixed pathways, for example the choices of modules could lead to a degree in Cyber Technology with Artificial Intelligence.

This course is the result of a unique collaboration between DMU and one of the country’s most respected broadcasters, Channel 4. It will equip you with the specialist skills and knowledge for a successful career in investigative video journalism.

Designed by industry experts, the course addresses skills such as in-depth research, handling complex data, understanding financial information, and working undercover. After a thorough grounding in media law, regulation and ethics, you will receive tuition in various investigative techniques, including using the Freedom of Information Act, data journalism and financial journalism.

You will also be taught how to use specialist camera equipment, and how to plan, shoot and edit your own material with a view to making industry-standard, broadcast-quality journalistic films. This is supplemented by a survey of the academic study of journalism, all of which is intended to help you flourish as a practitioner.

The connection with Channel 4 helps the course tutors identify potential work experience placements, and professional mentors for students.

Recent graduates have gone to work as directors, presenters, reporters and researchers with national and international news and current affairs broadcasters, including the BBC and Channel 4.

Specialise in lingerie, athleisure, swimwear, loungewear, nightwear, corsetry, menswear, sportswear or medical applications. You will develop specialist skills in conceptual design and application, pattern cutting, grading, fit methodologies, technical excellence and manufacturing. In your final year, you will choose to specialise in either an aesthetic or a technical route.
