You will be taught by experienced, research-active academics and clinical experts who will present the latest advances in medicine and science, and study a range of topics, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Inflammation and Immunobiology, Evidence Based Medicine and Clinical Perspectives, Cancer Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Nutrition through the lifespan. As the course progresses, you will be introduced to more advanced medical topics, and start to relate the understanding of normal healthy physiology with pathological processes.

You can choose to enhance your employability through an optional sandwich year work placement, allowing you to gain hands-on experience and develop practical and professional skills that you can apply to your learning.

Many of our graduates have pursued careers in scientific research, teaching, medical writing, and various roles in the NHS. Upon completion you can also choose to progress to graduate entry medicine, physician associate and dentistry courses.

This course provides a broad understanding of information systems coupled with in-depth exploration of analytics knowledge and concepts to help you derive valuable information and insights from data. On graduating from this course, our students are equipped with the skills needed for successful careers in industry or academia, as competent and independent lifelong learners. The programme will prepare you for careers in fields such as data and systems analysis and design, system, security, project and knowledge management, big data architect roles, data consultant roles and business consultancy.

On this course you will explore a diverse range of modules such as photography and video, television studies, and music industry management. For your language studies you can choose from French, the official language in 32 countries, or Mandarin, the world’s most natively spoken language. You can start your study of languages at DMU at beginner (French or Mandarin), intermediate, or advanced level.

On this course you will place your own practice (whether emerging or established) at the heart of your studies. Using a range of artistic and scholarly perspectives from dance and other artistic disciplines, you will explore new approaches to the research and realisation of choreography in professional and academic contexts.  The curriculum emphasises the development of practice research, interdisciplinarity and authorship.

Balancing taught with independent study, the course is delivered from practical and scholarly perspectives through studio-based and classroom activities. You will explore practice-research methods, critical choreographic contexts, performance making and negotiated study. You are encouraged to personalise your studies by drawing directly upon your background, identity, culture and specialist movement practices. Teaching is delivered by acclaimed artist practitioners and academics in the fields of dance and wider creative practices.

You will develop your entrepreneurial and creative skills and apply them to real-world situations.

Taught by lecturers with industry experience, this course will hone your key competences as you study core topics that cut across business and entrepreneurial practice. Innovative modules will teach you relevant knowledge and equip you with practical skills. You’ll be able to take part in a collaborative consultancy project with businesses in the Leicester area and simulate a new venture creation using SimVenture software. You will also have the opportunity to pick the optional final year module, Venture Creation Project, where you will get to create a feasible and compelling solution to a new business venture within a specific market and pitch your idea to a panel consisting of staff, experienced entrepreneurs and potential investors.

This course is for students with a product, furniture or a directly-related 3D design degree who wish to build on their expertise, specialist knowledge and employability. You will develop an advanced understanding of design practice, learn about research methodologies, explore service design and the ways that emerging digital technologies can enhance your work. The flexibility of the curriculum allows you to create a distinct programme of learning that is focused on your individual interests and ambitions, and equip you with the practical commercial skills for a successful career in the creative industries.

Within the course, you can choose from two specialisms. On the Design Practice specialism, you will explore design innovation and the creation of innovative products that fulfil the users’ wants and needs. Alternatively, our Design and Business specialism focuses on commercial practice, research methods and product design – all valuable skills that you would need to forge a career as a creative entrepreneur.

Your studies will culminate in a self-directed design project, during which you will explore real world product design processes such as external validation, prototyping, testing, technical definition and specification.

In all your designs and processes we will empower you to experiment boldly and encourage you to take risks. We aim to develop independent learners who can take their own personal and critical approach to tackling complex design challenges. Access to our sophisticated facilities, including industry-standard vector-based and three-dimensional modelling packages, will enable you to push design boundaries and realise your creative visions.

English language is a stimulating, thought-provoking course designed to make you analyse and reflect on how language in general, and English in particular, functions in the world today. You will examine the origins of English and how it could evolve in an era of global change and technological innovation. You will discover how the importance and impact of language in a variety of contexts, both as a complex system for embodying ideas, emotions, and beliefs, and as a means of influencing, persuading, and moving others.

You will be able to develop a set of linguistic and analytical skills which will help you become a highly effective communicator. This is a course about how language shapes your world – by learning and understanding how language works, we can help the world open up to you.

Alongside your English language curriculum, you can choose to study French, Mandarin or Spanish from either beginner level or post-beginner level. You will develop your linguistic skills and gain an understanding of the social, cultural, political, historical, and artistic topics from the Francophone, Chinese or Hispanophone world.
