Energy Engineering MSc will give you an in-depth understanding of contemporary issues in energy and sustainability, and will develop your knowledge of experimental and computer modelling techniques for the design of energy systems, such as electricity grids, thermal energy networks and transportation systems.

You can choose from a range of modules to focus on either sustainable development in practice, sustainability in the built environment, or techniques of energy analysis. The course is informed by research from the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) so that you develop industry-relevant and up-to-date knowledge and expertise.

Our MSc International Finance and Investment programme will provide you with skills and expertise to appraise issues facing financial market participants and to improve the practice of investment and risk management in a sustainable and ethical manner. It focuses on trading portfolio management and corporate finance following latest developments in the finance field by offering Financial Technology (FinTech) as a core module. You will be taught by experienced, research-active academics and clinical experts who will present the latest advances in medicine and science, and study a range of topics, including Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Inflammation and Immunobiology, Evidence Based Medicine and Clinical Perspectives, Cancer Therapeutics, Pharmacology and Therapeutics and Nutrition through the lifespan. As the course progresses, you will be introduced to more advanced medical topics, and start to relate the understanding of normal healthy physiology with pathological processes.

The English language is one of the most widely spoken across the world. This program will enrich your understanding of the form, culture and function of today’s use of the English language, alongside teaching you a second language of either French, Mandarin or Spanish. 

English language is a stimulating, thought-provoking course designed to make you analyse and reflect on how language in general, and English in particular, functions in the world today. You will examine the origins of English and how it could evolve in an era of global change and technological innovation. You will discover how the importance and impact of language in a variety of contexts, both as a complex system for embodying ideas, emotions, and beliefs, and as a means of influencing, persuading, and moving others.

You will be able to develop a set of linguistic and analytical skills which will help you become a highly effective communicator. This is a course about how language shapes your world – by learning and understanding how language works, we can help the world open up to you.

Alongside your English language curriculum, you can choose to study French, Mandarin or Spanish from either beginner level or post-beginner level. You will develop your linguistic skills and gain an understanding of the social, cultural, political, historical, and artistic topics from the Francophone, Chinese or Hispanophone world.

In the first year, everyone will undertake a standard first-year syllabus, studying core modules in Constitutional and Administrative law, Contract Law, Criminal Law, and English and European Legal Contexts. A range of delivery and assessment styles will fully prepare students for subsequent years of study.

The focus on foundational legal knowledge and skills will continue in the second and third year with modules on Land Law, Law of Tort, and Equity and Trusts. You will also develop functional awareness through Inter-professional Legal Skills.

You will have the opportunity after your first year to focus your studies by selecting a preferred specialism pathway in one of the following areas: Business Law, Criminal Justice, Human Rights & Social Justice, Sociolegal Studies and International Law. Alternatively, you can continue on the Law LLB pathway.

The emphasis is on doing rather than simply reading and listening; participation is a central feature of this course. The teaching of the law modules is augmented by a range of employability and placement activities. The aim is to produce confident, independent learners.
