Our Product Design course helps you to take your imaginative ideas and make them real. To do that you need both the creativity and the technical skills to bring your ideas to life.

On this course you’ll study the fundamentals of maths and science, electrical, electronic and mechanical principles, and simulation and fluid dynamics, as well as the functional and market-led requirements of product design.

You’ll look at specific areas including technology integration, computer-aided design (CAD) and 3D design, sustainability and design for manufacture, and be taught by academics with current industry connections.

DMU’s Music Technology BA is a distinctive, dynamic and market-leading course that challenges conventions in music composition and performance and explores the extraordinary musical possibilities offered by new technologies. You will be able to take optional modules such as Design for 3D Printing, Bioengineering and Emerging Materials and Processes to tailor the course to your interests. Modules such as Product Design, Project Management and Engineering Business Environment equip you with the professional skills you need to work in industry.

Education Studies with Psychology examines how childhood is understood and shaped by society and how educationalists and psychologists theorise personal, social, emotional and intellectual development.

Recent graduates have gone on to work in teaching, education practice, early years childcare, youth work, educational publishing, the creative industries or choose to progress to postgraduate level courses, such as our Education Practice MA.

You’ll cover topics including perspectives on education, thinking and learning in higher education, historical and contemporary issues and childhood, social justice and education, as well as developing your professional agency through placement in year one.

You’ll also have the opportunity to choose from elective modules in years two and three that include forest school and outdoor learning, preparing for professional practice, music in school life, inclusion, education and equality, special educational needs and creativity and education.

The Criminology with Psychology degree examines the causes, legal framework and responses to crime, combined with the study of psychology.

Students will cover a range of material to develop a holistic appreciation of criminal justice matters. For example, whilst students will explore a range of theoretical perspectives on causes of crime and philosophical justifications of punishment, they will also develop a solid understanding of how the criminal justice system works in practice. Energy Engineering MSc will give you an in-depth understanding of contemporary issues in energy and sustainability, and will develop your knowledge of experimental and computer modelling techniques for the design of energy systems, such as electricity grids, thermal energy networks and transportation systems.

You can choose from a range of modules to focus on either sustainable development in practice, sustainability in the built environment, or techniques of energy analysis. The course is informed by research from the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) so that you develop industry-relevant and up-to-date knowledge and expertise.
