This course will provide a broad understanding of disease processes and their diagnosis, linked to in-depth studies of haematology or medical microbiology, together with some detailed exploration of management practices. The programme is designed to link academic knowledge with the practical applications of biomedical science and management, and will prepare you for a career in biomedical science management or small business development. Taught by researchers, expert practising biomedical scientists and business managers, there is the opportunity to undertake a project with internationally-acclaimed research teams. With a full programme of workshops and critical study, this Creative Writing MA offers you the chance to work on your own writing in different genres with the support of published practitioners.

The Writers' Workshop module will encourage you to develop your writing 'voice' through engagement with fellow students across a range of genres (in fiction or creative non-fiction), while the Special Study module enables you to specialise in one genre, such as fiction, non-fiction, poetry or drama.

This Creative Writing MA will give you the knowledge and confidence to enter the cultural debate and to begin to identify outlets for your own writing.

How can we better understand today's social inequalities, and what can we do to solve them? What impact has globalisation had on our every day lives? How does our culture and society shape our identity and how we evaluate others? These are the types of questions we examine in our sociology degree.

You'll look at many areas of social life, such as gender, race and class, family, migration, creative industries and fashion, to understand how power operates, how individual behaviour, norms and values are shaped by the social world, and how conflict exists and is resolved.

Throughout the course, you'll be asked to reflect on your own life experiences and to consider contemporary real-world issues and events. You'll make connections with ideas and arguments from other social sciences, such as psychology, criminology, and politics. You'll take your learning out of the classroom, broadening your experience of work environments and cultural spaces such as museums and galleries.

This course offers key skills in pharmaceutical analysis, including measurement, scientific practice, evaluation and interpretation of data. You will study recent trends in analytical science and techniques and be introduced to pharmaceutical technologies, such as formulations and clinical pharmacokinetics. Through your research project, you will develop valuable research skills. Past projects have examined areas such as determining caffeine and its metabolites in human serum samples using GC-MS, and synthesis and use of compounds as probes for biochemical reactions.

With very few budding writers making a living from writing alone, this course offers creative writers the chance to learn not only the craft of writing, but also current trends in publishing from world-renowned professionals. On this course, you'll evaluate many of society's current issues and learn how psychology and criminology can raise questions and find answers.

You'll gain a deeper insight into the human mind and behaviour, develop an understanding of how we behave, think and interact, and study how we respond to crime, criminal behaviour and victimisation. You'll find out why individuals offend, how their crimes affect society and how the criminal justice system operates.

On this course, you'll gain detailed knowledge of building maintenance, care, conservation and structure, reflecting the work of a building surveyor. You'll study the business and legal aspects of property and construction. You'll learn how to advise clients of legal and financial implications resulting from the condition of buildings.

You'll examine building designs, poor, good and/or sustainable. You'll use sketching and computer-aided design packages. You'll also examine reasons for constructions and buildings failing, which is a key knowledge base for chartered building surveyors.

A major group project and an independent research project will give you the opportunity to showcase your learning.

This course examines the physical science of natural hazards, the social factors that can contribute to disasters, emergency planning and disaster risk reduction (DRR). You'll gain expertise in a range of practical and field techniques through "real-world" exercises.
