This course is driven by the increasingly global nature of the financial services industry and the continued expansion of international trade.

You could be a management professional involved in exporting, importing and other commercial activities overseas. To meet international demand for this course, we have a collaborative arrangement for delivery at a university in Hangzhou, China. If you are studying in China, you will have the option to study one semester in Leeds as part of your course.

Nutrition plays a key part in the promotion of good health and the primary prevention of diet-related illness in communities and populations.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Become a critically reflective practitioner and gain practical experience in our health science and catering laboratories
• Gain an understanding of the relationship between food, nutrition and health
• Manage, analyse, interpret and communicate information and statistics about nutrition related health and disease states
• Undertake work-based placements to apply your expertise and refine your practical skills
• Have the option of undertaking a sandwich placement in year three

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Explore a wide range of theories within psychology, mental health, counselling, child development and psychotherapy
• Combine theoretical knowledge with opportunities to work in mental health environments and develop your ability to build effective therapeutic relationships
• Study a variety of therapeutic approaches  
• Explore psychotherapeutic models including cognitive and behavioural development and look at theories on how mental health issues develop across the lifespan
• Learn how to develop your interpersonal skills in order to build counselling relationships between you and your clients 

This course is suitable for those working in mental health services wanting to further their knowledge and career, or for those wishing to enter the health and care professions. You’ll study a variety of therapeutic approaches and will be able to tailor the course to your career ambitions. On completion, you’ll be able to build positive therapeutic relationships that can foster positive change for your clients, for example with people experiencing anxiety, depression and addiction.

You’ll practise your counselling and interpersonal skills using our interview and feedback rooms. This course will enhance your theoretical knowledge and will provide an opportunity to put theory into practice. Your first semester critically engages with key theories and the second focuses on developing your analytical, investigative and practical skills. During the final part of your course, you will complete a major independent project.

Your modules offer perspectives on a broad range of topics in relation to the study of media and culture, such as the effect of globalisation on media consumption, the impact new media platforms have had upon fandom, and how cultural identities are marginalised through mediatized images.

Suitable if you have a relevant degree such as psychology, linguistics or English Language, this course will empower you to diagnose speech and language problems in babies, children and adults, and design and deliver life-changing treatment plans for those with cleft palate, stammering, hearing impairments, voice disorders and other conditions.

You will learn through a combination of seminars, lectures and practice-based learning, amassing more than 500 hours of professional experience on placements in various clinical or community settings.

Your masters programme will offer a more critical application of your learning than at undergraduate level, and the chance to engage in an extended project that you could showcase as part of your professional portfolio.

Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a speech and language therapist. You will have the expertise to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide the best possible care for your clients.
