The role of acoustics in the built environment and the impact of sound and noise on society is a growing area of research and practice.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Understand acoustic design and practice as a vital component in environments where creative industries function
• Recognise the intrinsic relationship between audio systems and the environments in which they operate
• Develop a broad understanding of the behaviour of sound in all scenarios
• Build technical and practical skills in the measurement, evaluation and design of audio systems and acoustic environments
• Explore the areas of interfacing, interactivity and spatial audio
• Practise listening to audio systems and acoustic environments and develop your ability to complete their set up and evaluation independently

Develop your own approach to the study and practice of graphic design through a combination of brief-led and self-initiated projects.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore a wide spectrum of disciplines including design for print, illustration, photography, typography, animation and moving image
• Discover your strengths and develop your own individual style
• Have the opportunity to show off your projects to the public and impress industry by exhibiting your work at the end of your final year

• Have the opportunity to explore the welfare state, the impact of globalisation, social inequalities, the complexities of making successful policies, and social and economic justice

 You’ll also engage with real businesses through live projects, chair discussions and guest lectures. Past speakers include the CEO of the London Stock Exchange, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Chief Economist of Yorkshire Bank.

Interest in sport and exercise in the UK has increased significantly, and those working in the industry require a diverse set of skills. This course will enable you to apply science and medicine to help athletes recover from injury and reach their physical peak and also aid the general population in maintaining healthy lifestyles.

You will gain practical expertise that will allow you to assess, treat and support individuals from a variety of sporting disciplines. By understanding the process of an injury audit to identify risk factors, you will learn how to implement an evidence-based treatment plan that minimises the chance of reinjury.

You will develop a comprehensive knowledge of pathophysiology, biomechanics and sports-specific clinical reasoning, allowing you to accurately evaluate and treat injuries. You will study rehabilitation strategies and return-to-play assessments, and you will explore the emergent field of prehabilitation, which aims to prevent injuries before they occur.

• Study poems, plays and prose narratives in their historical and cultural contexts
• Discuss and debate the different ways texts can be interpreted
• Embrace a wide range of theoretical approaches
• Cover a diverse range of texts, from the literatures of Romanticism through to the contemporary, and British and American Literature of the twentieth century to the postcolonial literatures of the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia
• Work directly with leading literary researchers to develop your own creative and critical voice

We work directly with Leeds museums and galleries and many regional events, including the Ilkley Literature Festival and the Leeds West Indian Carnival.

Engage with innovative theory. This course has been designed to significantly expand both your practical expertise within the field of medical biochemistry and your transferable skills. Exposure to a range of techniques, including microscopy, spectroscopy and diagnostic assays, and their associated theories will significantly develop your understanding of medical biochemistry.

During your studies, you will prepare for, and undertake, an extensive independent project. You will discuss your project in detail with your supervisor before carrying out your research and writing up your study in a thesis. Additionally, you will study related subjects such as metabolism, physiology and the genetics of drug responses.

This course will develop your competencies in data analysis and statistics, science communication and professional development, enabling you to further your career as a confident medical biochemist or researcher.

This course has been designed in-line with the specific criteria required to go on to undertake the NHS Scientist Training Programme. As well as gaining an understanding of the practice and theory of advanced medical biochemistry, you will master other skills required to be a capable scientist. These include data analysis techniques such as using SPSS, and effective science communication, for example developing conference posters, delivering presentations, writing scientific papers and using social media to disseminate your research.

Develop key skills in economics, accounting and management with a strong vocational focus.

As part of your course you’ll:

• Explore the principles of economics and how they apply to business
• Gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of the economic decisions faced by business managers
• Develop the ability to analyse the economic and social environments in which those decisions are taken
