Effective health and safety practices are integral to the success of any organisation. Whether you work as an operations manager, office manager, engineer or technician, you will be involved in establishing and maintaining a safe working environment. We will develop your knowledge of how different organisations use varying levels of safety procedures and you will assess their impact on the company as a whole.

By investigating an organisation in its entirety, you will gain a broad knowledge of other departments such as marketing, sales and human resources and how they are affected by the procedures and processes you implement. You will also enhance your understanding of the technical and human aspects of health and safety, learning to identify whether problems were caused by machine malfunctions or misjudgement by humans.

This industry accredited degree will enable you to play an important role in society.

As part of your course, you’ll:

• Understand the responsibility for protecting public health
• Study how to uphold the maintenance of health environments
• Examine complex environmental health problems and learn how to formulate effective solutions
• Learn about the enforcement, education and the issuing of advice while working in partnership with other agencies
• Be taught by environmental health practitioners experienced in key areas such as food safety and health and safety

Develop a thorough and critical understanding of psychological theory and research methods.

As part of this course you’ll:

• Apply this expertise to your study of human behaviour
• Question why humans act the way they do, delving into specialist areas including drug abuse, clinical and forensic psychology and cognitive neuroscience
• Conduct contemporary psychological research, including laboratory experiments, interviews and focus groups

• Focus on three main areas: programming and software engineering; art, concept and asset production; and game design studies, practice and theory
• Take products from an initial idea through the design, visualisation and technical implementation stages

 Placement opportunities, networking events and guest lectures from industry experts such as Disney animator Aaron Blaise and codemasters Team17 Digital and Dan Gray from UsTwoGames will enhance your awareness of the career opportunities open to you.

We are also members of industry network, Game Republic, where past students have won awards from industry judges in the Student Showcase Competition.

Final year students also have the opportunity to showcase their work in front of leading employers at the end of year degree show. You can see some of their work in the Leeds School of Arts Festival. Previous years have seen many of our students gain job offers through the showcase opportunities.

• Discuss and debate the different ways texts can be interpreted
• Embrace a wide range of theoretical approaches
• Cover a diverse range of texts, from the literatures of Romanticism through to the contemporary, and British and American Literature of the twentieth century to the postcolonial literatures of the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia

• Have access to diverse placement opportunities, including Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust and Leeds Community Healthcare Trust, within secondary and regional care units, community teams and GP practices
• Spend 50 per cent of your time on practice placements
• Develop the practical skills needed to care for adults with acute and long-term illnesses across a variety of settings
• Focus on areas of personal interest within healthcare during the volunteering strand of the course

This integrated masters course provides the ideal platform to gain broad-based technical experience that will enable you to enter design, construction or operations roles within the civil engineering industry.

As part of this course, you’ll:

• Build the foundations for a diverse and interesting future in civil engineering
• Develop knowledge of the mathematical and scientific principles and methodologies which underpin civil engineering
