This course will help you to develop the skills and knowledge to take your production ambitions further, nurture your confidence to work within the music and media industries, and prepare you for further study.

Innovative research methods will allow you to gain insights into user needs, economic, environmental and ethical considerations, and industry capabilities to inform your design outcomes. The importance of iterative modelling processes (making, testing and improving) will enable you to question, challenge, refine and propose appropriate design solutions that will make a positive contribution to the world around us.

This course recognises the breadth of professional and research-led opportunities within the subject area of 3D Design and supports a culture of discursive enquiry and debate. It aims to foster and nurture independent creative thinkers and will equip you with the necessary attributes to respond to the contemporary challenges undertaken by designers and researchers in the field.

• Study poems, plays and prose narratives in their historical and cultural contexts
• Discuss and debate the different ways texts can be interpreted

• Cover a diverse range of texts, from the literatures of Romanticism through to the contemporary, and British and American Literature of the twentieth century to the postcolonial literatures of the Caribbean, India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia

• Hone your skills in the creative, technical and compositional aspects of music production
• Gain a solid academic and practical base from which to develop your craft further
• Apply your knowledge to a variety of creative and industry-focused briefs and scenarios

You’ll have access to software such as Logic Pro, Cubase, Adobe Audition, MAX MSP and Synthmaker. Your specialist modules might require you to use Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Unreal and other industry standard software.

This course is accredited by JAMES (Joint Audio Media Education Support) which encourages the delivery of workshops and lectures from industry professionals. A placement option and your final year project will provide you with opportunities to work with industry partners.

Artist in Residence Programme
The Artist in Residence programme gives our students an opportunity to work with professional artists and gives them a taste of what is it like to work on a professional music project. We have welcomed artists Chris T-T, Ian Prowse, I Monster, Tom Williams and Utah Saints.

This course will allow you to become a qualified youth and community worker, increasing your employment opportunities in this rapidly changing field. It is validated by the National Youth Agency.

You will participate in a rich and culturally diverse teaching and learning environment and undertake two challenging placements, enabling you to apply your knowledge and hone your practical skills. During your studies, you will critically engage with the tensions and challenges of current practice, build a sophisticated knowledge of effective management approaches, debate how youth work and community development has responded to shifting government policies and learn how to support inclusive practice that can inspire positive social change.

This course has been designed on the principles which promote social justice, and challenge injustice and inequality. Alongside the taught modules, you will be able take advantage of our professional development programme, which offers the chance to explore and understand recent developments in the field, exchange experiences with colleagues and practitioners and learn from one another. You will also gain an understanding of how to conduct research as a practitioner, and undertake an in-depth dissertation study.
