How you’ll apply your new skills

• You’ll learn to apply your theoretical knowledge with practical experiments in our modern labs or using remote access, component kits and a wide range of software. Teaching is made up of different styles like lab and group work alongside individual projects, which include designing websites and IT systems.
• Our course gives you the option to extend your studies by a year to spend the third year doing a paid work placement in an IT-based industry. This course is aimed at ambitious students who want to broaden their career options with our one-year business management top-up course with a specialism in finance. Upon graduation you’ll be well placed to enter banking and finance in a wide range of businesses, government and third sector organisations.

You’ll work in our Financial Markets Lab, where you’ll have industry standard access to Bloomberg and Datastream financial software. You’ll also have access to cutting-edge business resources including the Chartered Management Institute’s Management Direct Resource Hub.

You'll use London stock exchange data for listed companies in order to form portfolios. You'll calculate its expected return, comparing with the market including the identification of over and under priced companies.You will develop key business skills, knowledge and experience in order to excel in a management career. Companies and organisations require graduates who have expert business knowledge, who can also demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills, and the professional acumen to deal with challenges in a fast-paced business environment. You will focus on building financial knowledge and skills and will learn the role of accounting within organisations.

Building your financial skills

• You’ll build your skills in a live financial environment. You’ll also have real-time news updates which show the reflection of stock prices and how they are influenced, as well as identifying efficient markets.
• You’ll use workshops, simulations, role-play and case study analyses to hone your business management skills. As part of group projects, you'll solve financial problems and present solutions as part of a report.

During the foundation year you will learn how computers are used by a broad range of people and organisations as well as acquiring fundamental software development skills and knowledge of hardware. You also gain relevant mathematical and statistical skills and develop useful communication skills.

BSc Computer Science

You’ll gain an understanding of the key principles of computer science while you develop your programming, system engineering, and project experience skills. You’ll also get the support, encouragement and confidence to put your skills into practice through individual and group projects. Your first year will be entirely project led, ensuring you practice your skills from the very start.

Our architectural technology degree combines architecture, civil engineering, services engineering, environmental science and building information modelling to give you the insight, skills and experience to succeed in the most heavily demanded areas of construction.

Gaining first-hand experience of transforming conceptual designs and drawings into practical building projects, you’ll get to grips with the latest technologies, industry software and Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques. Access to on-campus facilities will be dependent on any Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time.

You’ll also learn new methodologies, develop your creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills, and have the chance to work on real-life projects – in the UK and abroad – to gain a broad understanding of the full project management process. You’ll graduate with the skills to enter a diverse range of roles in both the private and public sectors of construction. Our graduates have gone on to become BIM managers, lead designers, information managers, project managers and consultants – and some have even set up their own architectural design practices.

Build your architectural skills

• You’ll have the opportunity to build your professional portfolio by taking part in some of the industry’s most prestigious events and competitions – both in the UK and internationally (taking into account any Covid-19 related restrictions). You’ll also get to showcase your work to industry professionals in our final year degree show.
• You’ll get one-on-one support throughout your studies, and our series of guest lecturers also gives you access to some of the industry’s most influential professionals.
• You’ll collaborate with us to put your new skills into practice through real-world construction and infrastructure projects. Our students are currently leading the way on our MDX Pavilion: a major new project to create a sustainably-designed learning, event, community and well-being space on our campus.
• We’ll give you the flexibility to study over three years (full-time), four years (with a paid, year-long work placement), or six years (part-time). You’ll also be able to get a bursary worth up to 50% if you decide to continue your studies with our MSc BIMM course.

Our BSc Psychology will give you the skills needed to pursue exciting career opportunities, ranging from clinical psychology and forensics to government policy and elite sports coaching.

Develop your skills and practical experience with us
We’ve got psychology specialist laboratories and counselling practice rooms that, when available to access, will let you develop the practical skills needed to succeed in the field. You’ll be guided by teaching staff who are leading researchers in areas including health psychology, forensic psychology and qualitative research. Even in eventualities where we are unable to be in the laboratory or classroom together, we aim to use virtual tools to help you develop key practical skills.

Between the second and third years of study, you'll be encouraged to undertake an expenses-based year-long work placement. This will give you the chance to apply your knowledge, develop practical skills, and boost the chances of employment after you graduate. A range of established organisations are involved with our placement course, including Great Ormond Hospital School, St Georges Hospital, Priory Hospital, Institute of Psychiatry, Institute of Education, University College London, Holloway Prison, and the Metropolitan Police. The availability of placements is subject to the co-operating organisation, and we are working closely with our partners to make as many as possible available even during the pandemic. International politics has never been so relevant to our daily lives, which means our international politics degree will open up opportunities in all areas of this diverse and dynamic field – from public service and international relations to regional organisations, NGOs, diplomacy, the media, and everything in between.

During your BA in politics, you’ll study the key themes, concepts and theories related to international politics, and gain a solid understanding of contemporary international and global issues, political processes and systems through policy analysis, role playing, masterclasses and interactive debates. Covering the fundamental aspects of international politics, you’ll enhance your critical and analytical skills, and learn the different theoretical perspectives and their relevance to global geopolitical and economic developments to enhance your understanding of international relations and global politics.

The Foundation Year in 3D Design is a creative and inspiring multidisciplinary course encouraging students to explore different aspects of design. It builds confidence, helps students identify their strengths and develops skills and techniques. The course offers an experimental diagnostic approach exploring different creative pathways and clarifies industry specialisms to help students choose possible career paths in the creative industries.

BA Interior Architecture

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. Interior architecture degrees typically focus on the adaptation and remodelling of existing buildings, bringing together the practices of interior design and architecture in one. This course incorporates a diverse range of buildings across the public, private, and commercial spheres.

We’ll encourage you to develop an individual style, independent thinking, and innovative ideas. We give all our students the skills needed to address real-world situations in an imaginative and dynamic way, preparing you for the world of work.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations)

Our criminology degree is one of the first in the world and we offer one of the most innovative programmes in the UK. The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements.

Our international tourism course covers all the essential knowledge to give you a solid foundation from which to pursue your interests. You’ll be equipped with knowledge about tourism in relation to sustainable economic development and civil society. In addition to this, you’ll have the flexibility to take on optional modules and take part in practice-based learning opportunities. The diverse style of learning will develop your skills and increase your prospects of employment once you graduate.

The events management module will give you a great understanding of the events industry and everything that goes into planning memorable ones. You’ll cover planning, strategy, and management while analysing festivals and the requirements of different event types. You’ll also develop your own event concept and produce a portfolio to show your understanding of planning specific events.

Our graduates have gone on to work for Marriot, Thomas Cook, Etihad, and many more. The course opens doors to many different industries too, including tourist boards, local authorities, airports, hotels, and museums.

The Foundation Year in Business is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BA Business Management (Human Resources)

If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.
