Not all nutrition courses take a holistic approach to the subject. Our BSc Nutrition programme is interdisciplinary in its approach, exploring the link between diet, health, disease and performance. As nutritionists play a key role in creating and translating research into nutritional advice and policies, you’ll learn all about how the human body uses nutrients and the effects this has on health.

• Our course offers you the unique opportunity to undertake a 12-month placement in your third year before returning for a final year of study subject to availability in light of the Covid 19 pandemic. Completing the placement will mean you graduate with a BSc Nutrition (Professional Practice) degree, which highlights the additional practical skills you’ve gained to prospective employers. You’ll get plenty of support from our Employability Advisors, who’ll ensure you secure a placement that closely matches your interests.

International politics has never been so relevant to our daily lives, which means that our BA in International Politics and Law will open up opportunities in all areas of this diverse and dynamic field, from public service, and international relations to regional organisations, NGOs, diplomacy, the media, and everything in between.

Whether you're working in a hospital laboratory or researching new treatments, you'll be doing vital, rewarding work which will improve and very often save lives.

This course is designed to enable you to build up strong laboratory and diagnostic skills. This is built around a practical element, with an emphasis on developing these skills. Where possible, you will be able to study and learn without the University's specialist laboratories. This will be augmented through the use of sophisticated virtual laboratory simulation. Subject to any restrictions as a result of COVID-19, you'll also learn how to use cutting-edge equipment such as MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers and flow cytometers.

The Biomedical Science courses at Middlesex have a burgeoning international reputation and the University's strong links with London hospitals, NHS laboratories and other universities and industrial partners ensures that you will be studying the latest developments, practices and research. You will examine current issues and challenges facing the industry and explore questions such as: From Spotify playlists to Super Audio CD, how is classical music consumed in the 21st century? Are stars like Lang Lang or Sheku Kanneh-Mason creating new and more diverse audiences for classical music? Is the concert hall the best place for classical music performances? From crossover to the ‘classics’ and from film music to contemporary classical works, what is understood by ‘classical music’?

The MA Classical Music Business is ideal for any graduates with a specific interest in classical music, or for those with a classical music performance, musicology or composition degree. It is also highly suitable for anybody already in employment, who wants to further progress their career in the classical music industry.

The MA Classical Music Business at Middlesex is unique. Combining both a theoretical understanding of the techniques of management and an engagement with concepts in management practice, this course offers a holistic approach to your develop in this exciting field, with an emphasis on management analysis. Leading with this quantitative and systematic approach ensures that the topics and knowledge you engage with is relevant to the working practices of and challenges faced by modern managers.

Studying BSc Medical Biochemistry with us will introduce you to new ideas and products that are applied to some of the biggest health problems of today. You’ll study the subject with a focus on human biology and medicine. Core themes will include chemistry, immunology, and molecular biology. There are two honour degree programmes to choose from - one is a three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc), and the other is a four-year Master of Science (MSci).

We’ll teach you how to think like a biochemist. You’ll develop essential research, diagnostic, and laboratory skills. The wide range of academic and professional skills gained on this course will prepare you for different career paths within the field. You can choose from working within a hospital or private labs in the health sector, research institutions, and pharmaceutical and biotech industries. You’ll study in some of the UK’s best laboratories, equipped with cutting-edge technology. Our £36 million Hatchcroft Building houses the bioscience suite, the cell and tissue culture lab, the mass spectrometry and medical engineering labs, to name just a few. You’ll have access to all the latest equipment you need to develop your skills and launch a career. Access to the labs is dependent upon any restrictions resultant from the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.

How you’ll practise your skills
Our course is unique among other medical biochemistry degrees because we focus on getting you work experience throughout your time with us. You’ll have the option of taking a year-long industry placement that’ll help you develop your transferable skills. We also have a work experience module that’ll allow you to increase your chances of employment and practice working in the scientific field. Workplace learning is under the control of our employer partners who may need to restrict access to placement learning in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.

You’ll learn through a series of computer-based sessions, practically focused learnings, and workshops. This mixed learning style will ensure you’re practising your skills in hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation as you learn. In addition, you’ll get the chance to become a member of the Middlesex Biochemical Society and gain experience as part of different research groups.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto our three-year media degree courses listed below. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Digital Media and Communications

Combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills, you gain skills in areas such as new media, video production, website design, culture and more. Practice-based work includes video production (following Government safety guidelines), web design and HTML programming, data visualisation and smart environments. Great emphasis is also given to the management and analysis of social media platforms, with APIs and other sources used to present and assess social data.

Our BSc Cyber Security and Digital Forensics will develop your theoretical knowledge while you gain the skills, practical experience and certifications to excel in areas that range from compliance management to cyber forensics and everywhere in between.
