You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skills (due to Covid-19, access to the specialist software may be online rather than in on-campus labs). Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more.

Build your information systems skills

• You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.
• We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

The importance of marketing communication in delivering clear, consistent and competitive messages about an organisation and its products is crucial to organisational success. Rather than seeing marketing communications as creating favourable brand images merely in the eyes of consumers, the field has witnessed a renewed focus on the effects of communication on the multiple stakeholders' organisations address, including their employees and the media.

Across multiple sectors, the utilisation of multi-channel communication strategies is growing and with this so is demand for professionals with expertise in this exciting field. Reflecting this need for a more corporate perspective and strategic approach to communications this course, developed with industry experts, is designed for new graduates with a background in marketing, media, management and social sciences, and practitioners seeking career development. The course focuses on three strands key to the field; ‘Strategic Analysis and Thinking’ enhances understanding of markets, and the application of critical and analytic methods in solving communications problems; ‘Execution’ develops skills around writing and presenting communications plans and advertising briefs; and ‘Tools, Media and Settings’ contextualises the use of both traditional and innovative modes of communication in different settings, whether social, national or global.

Biological science of the Third Millennium. encompasses and unites concepts, techniques and data from many allied sciences to provide a broader understanding of Life’s processes and interactions. The programme at Middlesex University is unique in combining a range of modules that cover a wide spectrum of biological sciences, but also integrates an emphasis on skills and experience acquisition that provides you with a valuable and marketable skill set. This programme builds upon a first year core of cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, evolutionary biology, and biological techniques. This conversion course is for graduates intending to pursue a career in psychology who wish to acquire the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society. You may have a degree in another subject but wish to either change career or pursue your interest in psychology in more depth. Students are introduced to the broad range of theoretical and methodological approaches to psychology and are encouraged to develop a critical approach to studies, evaluating theory and evidence accordingly.

By the end of this course, you will be able to perform quantitative and qualitative data analyses and use statistical software to analyse complex data. You will design, implement, analyse and communicate independent and group project work to an advanced level culminating in a dissertation on an agreed topic. You will also be able to design and run experiments to gather and interpret data. You will have gained knowledge in the core areas in psychology and be able to apply research skills across domains.

Our games design course is designed to give you a skill set that’s resilient to the rapid changes in an expanding and evolving industry. You’ll gain hands-on experience that will help you build your portfolio and develop your experience in a wide range of design skills that will open up career opportunities in a broad range of creative industries.

The games industry is  complex and diverse industry that spans a variety of old and new technologies fm print to computer software to 3D printed game pieces. Our BA/BSc in games design gives you the transferable skills and knowledge you need to become a successful games designer in this industry. Led by academic staff experienced in AAA, indie, tabletop and mobile gaming, you'll develop your technology and story development skills, as well as enhancing your game-play design expertise.

Depending on your interests, you will work on the technical side of games design and testing in the BSc, while the BA is focused on experience design and using scripting and games engines to produce satisfying gameplay experiences.

You’ll also develop your skills with our Vicon Motion Capture and Green screen facility.

Develop your skills and practical experience with us
We’ve got psychology specialist laboratories and counselling practice rooms that, when available to access, will let you develop the practical skills needed to succeed in the field. You’ll be guided by teaching staff who are leading researchers in areas including health psychology, forensic psychology and qualitative research. Even in eventualities where we are unable to be in the laboratory or classroom together, we aim to use virtual tools to help you develop key practical skills.

Between the second and third years of study, you'll be encouraged to undertake an expenses-based year-long work placement. This will give you the chance to apply your knowledge, develop practical skills, and boost the chances of employment after you graduate. A range of established organisations are involved with our placement course, including Great Ormond Hospital School, St Georges Hospital, Priory Hospital, Institute of Psychiatry, Institute of Education, University College London, Holloway Prison, and the Metropolitan Police. The availability of placements is subject to the co-operating organisation, and we are working closely with our partners to make as many as possible available even during the pandemic. Developed in partnership with the NHS trusts, the course will see you spend 50% of your time on placements with our partner hospitals. You’ll learn the essential nursing skills needed to take effective care of adult patients in a live environment.

You’ll develop your skills in communication, care and compassion, demonstrating your dedication to making a difference in other people’s lives.
Beyond the essential nursing skills, you’ll build your problem-solving skills and critical decision making, gaining confidence to work in a high pressure, stressful environment.
