Build your hands-on experience while developing your legal skills

• After you have completed your year one modules, you will have the option to transfer to year two of the LLB, which, on completion will lead to the academic and vocational training required to become a fully qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
• You will have use of original council chambers in Hendon Town Hall, featuring a judge's bench and public gallery for mooting and lectures.
• Work-based and skills-based modules will allow you to gain practical, hands-on experience, and employability skills in both legal and non-legal environments.

The course’s timetable is specifically arranged to give you the opportunity to arrange voluntary or paid work experience, or shorter placements. Typically, graduates go on to careers in educational settings, training programmes, and charities. It's also a route into a teaching role through a Primary or Senior PGCE.

This degree is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of crime and criminal justice at national and international levels. It promotes a critical and comparative approach to crime and justice issues intended to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to deal with a range of traditional and non-traditional crime, justice and deviancy issues.

The course looks at contemporary problems such as terrorism and the priorities of global policing, human rights and justice, environmental justice and transnational crime. The international and transnational dimension of crime is an integral part of the programme.

Criminology at Middlesex has a particularly strong international reputation. The Department was pioneering in an in?uential strand of criminology called 'left realism', and established one of the very ?rst courses of its kind in the UK, which is still considered to be one of the leading postgraduate criminology courses.

Our academic staff are involved in developing groundbreaking work, recently in areas such as sex offenders' use of the internet and online child safety (Dr Elena Martellozzo) and Environmental and Wildlife Crime (Dr Angus Nurse). With the option to study our robotics course over a three-year (BEng) or four-year (MEng) period, you’ll gain the technical knowledge and project experience that will give you a competitive edge as a robotics engineer.

Develop your understanding of criminal behaviour
During the course, when possible, you’ll learn in our award-winning Hatchcroft Building which includes the state-of-the-art facilities you would expect, including psycho-physiology, observation, and virtual reality laboratories. Even in eventualities where we are unable to be in the laboratory or classroom together, we aim to use virtual tools to help you develop key practical skills.

You’ll build up a range of skills by examining theoretical and scientific approaches to criminology, human behaviour, and psychology. You’ll also gain understanding of the psychological issues associated with criminal behaviour and the treatment of people who have committed criminal offences.

During your degree, you’ll take part in work placements with forensic psychologists, police forces, prisons and hospitals so you can build up a portfolio of professional experience. You can expect to engage in activities like running anger management courses for prisoners, while you also perform clinical research in areas such as eating disorders and autism, among others.

Our architectural technology degree combines architecture, civil engineering, services engineering, environmental science and building information modelling to give you the insight, skills and experience to succeed in the most heavily demanded areas of construction.
