BA Interior Architecture

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. This MSc has been developed for psychology graduates (or a related discipline, such as health studies, counselling, mental health, nursing, or public health) and current health and mental healthcare professionals wishing to further their studies, develop their knowledge and skills and enhance their career opportunities.

During the course, you'll be examining health, wellness and illness to understand the relationship between psychological variables and biomedical conditions as well as physical and mental health and wellbeing.

We have strong partnerships with many health psychology organisations and trusts which means that you'll be able to undertake an eight-week work placement and gain valuable hands-on work experience.

Our Sociology with Criminology degree is designed to give you a grounding in sociological and criminological thinking, research methods and key skills to articulate new and emerging social and criminological issues. Crime and criminal justice are central issues in today’s society, and our specialist Criminology and Sociology BA – one of the first in the world – opens up a wide range of career opportunities. You'll be taught the essential skills while you develop your ability to design and conduct social research through a range of traditional, innovative, and digital methods.

Once you graduate, you'll be able to demonstrate an extensive knowledge of both disciplines and continue to use this knowledge for creative, critical, and ethical thinking in future careers.

Build your practical skills

• Our Sociology with Criminology course is taught within the interdisciplinary department in the School of Law, where you’ll benefit from some of the UK’s most influential and innovative academics. All of our scholars are actively engaged in current research, including human rights abuses, criminal behaviour, and more.
• You’ll have the option to choose the modules you want in your second and third years, meaning you can tailor the programme to your unique set of interests and career prospects. You can also choose to extend your course by a year and take a work placement or integrate it through volunteering and placement modules. In your final year, you can also choose between a dissertation and project, making your degree as suited to your individual needs and interests as possible.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Criminology

This course is ideal if you're interested in how society responds to criminal behaviour and the challenges that this provides. Blending theory with practice, you’ll develop your knowledge by exploring key issues related to crime and justice before testing that knowledge through placements (when possible) within criminology-focused organisations and projects.

The Foundation Year in Business is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BA Business Management (Human Resources)

If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.

You will learn the principles of the English legal system, and gain reflection through social, political, economic, ethical and historical perspectives. You will also build a range of transferable skills, including abstract thinking and problem solving, that will allow you to prepare practically as well as academically for a successful legal career.

In light of COVID19 and the need to prioritise a safe academic community, we shall be offering a blended learning model that will involve online teaching and learning delivered by our expert academics, until it is safe to start face-to-face teaching. • After you have completed your year one modules, you will have the option to transfer to year two of the LLB, which, on completion will lead to the academic and vocational training required to become a fully qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.
