If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.

You’ll undertake a work placement so you can apply your skills to a live work setting. Using our industry connections, we'll help you find a role in the HR team of a top company, in an industry relevant to your interests. You can do this over the course of a year or over two summers. Past students have done placements with the NHS, The Walt Disney Company, and Hays Recruitment.

Through two compulsory modules you will focus on Strategic Management and, Leadership and Management Development. You’ll receive training in industry-standard software for managing the supply chain processes. Enterprise Resource Planning software (SAP) enables organisations to make decisions and run their business. Supply chains depend on this application and how it integrates business is of paramount importance. Knowledge of SAP is a tangible skill and is widely sought after by employers.

The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements (online or face-to-face).

This Masters programme has a strong practical element, with an emphasis on developing laboratory skills and gaining hands-on experience of diagnostic techniques. It also incorporates elements of microbiology and clinical biochemistry and you'll be able to study and learn within the University's specialist laboratories which include a modern, well-equipped cell culture facility, fully-equipped proteomics facilities and a microbiology lab. You will have access to a molecular biology laboratory for techniques such as DNA sequencing, real-time PCR, electrophoresis and HPLC.
