Our social work degree – which is fully accredited by the Social Work England (SWE) – has been designed and revised to give you the knowledge and professional skills to succeed in the field of social work. A huge part of this course includes learning on the job during a work placement. Over the course of two placements, you will get to grips with what it's actually like to do the job of a social worker. Genomic technologies are transforming the Biomedical sciences. Recent developments in DNA sequencing are creating unprecedented opportunities in molecular diagnostics, personal medicine and (infectious) disease prevention. There is a clear need for genomics specialists that can analyse and interpret genome data in a (bio)medical context.

This is an interdisciplinary programme with teaching provided by Life Sciences and Computer Science research active academics as well as other experts in the field. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of how changes in the genome relate to human disease. You will be trained to pursue a career in medical genomics in academia and industry.

Studying BSc Medical Biochemistry with us will introduce you to new ideas and products that are applied to some of the biggest health problems of today. How you’ll practise your skills

• Our course is unique among other medical biochemistry degrees because we focus on getting you work experience throughout your time with us. You’ll have the option of taking a year-long industry placement that’ll help you develop your transferable skills. We also have a work experience module that’ll allow you to increase your chances of employment and practice working in the scientific field. Workplace learning is under the control of our employer partners who may need to restrict access to placement learning in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.
• You’ll learn through a series of computer-based sessions, practically focused learnings, and workshops. We provide performance opportunities in our state of the art facilities, which include four fully equipped dance studios, plus a specialist dance theatre, and through our strong artistic relationships with external professional venues. There are a wide range of opportunities for you once you graduate across the creative industries. Previously, graduates have worked with some of the best dance companies in the UK and further abroad, while others go on to work in choreography, arts administration jobs in world renowned organisations, teaching in the private and public sectors, and further study.
